I'm a beauty geek just after some advice.

I had my hair highlighted today. She used bleach and a light golden blonde colour on alternate foils, half head. I love how it looks in the lengths of my hair but my roots look very stripy, like thick bright bits and there's a gap near the front where it's darker. The highlights aren't that evenly spaced it seems.
How do I avoid this in future? I'm after looking honey blonde and like two tones. My natural colour is light ash brown. What do I ask for to make sure they don't do it stripy? Would just bleach be better?
Also the bleached highlights are slightly yellowy. Would a toning shampoo or conditioner help? (which works better?) if so can you recommend one please?

Thank you! I know it's long..

Spounds like she did chunky weaves with her foils and just bad placement.
Tell the stylist next time you don't like the stripy look and to do them fine. Maybe ask for 2 x bleach to 1x Honey blonde instead of 1 to 1.

Hope that helps.

I would go back to the salon and complain. I would take a few pictures in with you of what you would like. They should he able to do something for you if your not happy with it x

Ah thank you that's great I'll know what to ask for in future. I don't want to complain I don't think as I don't think it's bad it's just not exactly what I expected but maybe I asked wrong. I'll know what to say next time. I will go back as the cut is great.
Any recommendations on toning shampoo or conditioner? I think I just want to try and make it slightly cooler toned.

Definitely poor placement, if it looks stripey.
If you put a toner on all over, it might affect your honey colour.
Try a purple shampoo initially, but if the honey colour is very golden, you could end up going slightly green. If it's just a purple shampoo rather than a toner, it will wash out more easily.
