I need some advice! I'm stuck between two jobs, one is a chain salon, and one a independent private salon. The chain salon is a Regis, and i have a pretty good chance of starting out there. i just graduated and it will be my first job. on the other hand, another private salon has offered me a job. both pros and cons of the salons. i have read and have done a lot of research about regis corp. lets just say there wasnt many nice things said. i know the pay isnt great, but the salon is beautiful and the people are so nice and the atmosphere is very welcoming. its located in a lovely outdoor mall. looks like it has a nice rep. but as for the private salon, it also offers a spa. and i do like variety, i feel like im not all hair. but, i just dont really like the boss. plus, its closer to where i live. wont start out with many hours either. do i go the corporate route or independent salon? anyone have any experience with regis? it'd help alot! thank you.

I am not a a hair prof and my advice is according to my views as a customer.. I have noticed that people who get to start their careers working for a company tend to be better at what they do ..reason is u get the hands on training and ur not pushed in the deep end as when u start ur own business directly after getting a degree ..

Apart from the fact that no one on the internet has anything nice to say about Regis (which in itself would normally make me run away fast), everything else is lovely, the people, the salon the location etc.
More importantly in the small salon you don't like the boss, who you will be seeing every day and have to work in close proximity to. With not enough hours in the beginning.
Unless you are able to overcome your initial dislike of the small salon boss and try to like her and the offer of more hours is imminent, it seems like Regis is the clear winner.
