well, we are moving soon and my mobile business seems to be picking up so i've decided that when we have moved i'd like to open a home salon. i've read all the other threads on here regarding health and safety/book keeping/insurances etc etc but wanted to know if anyone of you have converted a summerhouse into a salon.

i originally thought it would be a good idea, but then thought about the temperature outside. will it affect my products? i intend to have ventillation and a heater for the cold weather but obviously will only use these when i'm working in there.

it will be alarmed and in secure garden, which will be accessable without going through the house. Its like a large fancy shed i suppose. hubby said he can insulate it for me but i'm still not sure as you know how cold it gets in the winter. any suggestions or have anyone of you done this.

i suppose if its only the polishes and L+P thats afected by temperature i can always bring them in and leave the rest set up nicely.

advise please.

Summer causes just as many problems as winter. I guess it depends - is it more of a free standing conservatory or more like a wood structure? I had to give up using the free standing conservatory type mainly because of the heat

My friend who is a beauty therapist/nail technician has set up a luxury cabin in her garden as a salon, only recently. Seems to be ok in the summer buy I was wondering what it will be like in the winter? Its a wood cabin, so I guess she will have a heater in there in the winter?!

its more like a freestanding cabin i suppose. the wooden one with windows and door with small balcony/decking area at the front

Sounds like a wonderful idea. Just think, your clients can sit in the garden to dry off during the sunny weather.

You could always get a combined air conditioner/heater to keep the temp just right. xxx

Not to put a dampner as I do think this sounds like a great idea but where will your clients wait if they arrive early if it is raining or even snowing? Will you have a waiting are inside or is the porch the waiting area?

it'll be quite big. big enough inside for a waiting area. its about 12x12ft

Hya Emma

Ive got one in my gargen about the same size as the one your looking at and its fantastic! As long as ts insulated properly you shouldnt have any problems, worst case scenario keep somewhere in the house that you can use as storage if need be. Good luck
