I need some help and advice from you as i am confused.I have been a beauty/laser therapist for 9 years and i hold CIBTAC beauty, body and electrical epilation qualification.I would love to move into teaching but not sure where to start from.I had an interview with the local college enquiring about the Level 4 Certificate in education, unfortunately I am not into teaching position at the moment ,so i have to start from the Level 4(award in education). My question is is it better to do it in a college,or a distance learning course and then go into college for Level 4.Thank you very much and have a nice day!

I'm in a similar situation, I need to go back and do my level 3 to teach hairdressing, but can't afford to take time out of the salon.

I'm gonna talk to my boss this week about it hopefully we can get an accessor to come out x

Hi, I used to teach beauty therapy at college and undertook all my teaching qualifications alongside my teaching commitments. It is hard work but worth it.
I also used to teach the then PTLLS course for the whole college, whatever subject area they were from.
The PTTLS students who came to college to study got lots of help with the theory and assignment work on a one to one basis as well as the in-class delivery. The students who were doing a few hours of teaching or class room support were ahead of those who did not have a connection to learners anywhere. It was also a very good opportunity for them to discuss stuff with their fellow newbies.

My advice would be to do your first teaching qualification at a college because of the support you will get. Also, with my other curriculum manager hat on, I used to watch for good lecturers coming up through with a view to giving them some teaching hours. It is a foot in the door for you, so to speak!!

Thank you very much for you advise!
