Hi all.
I have bought some thin metallic strips that have a sticky back but am having trouble getting them to stick to the nail.
Have I bought cheap tape or is there a special method for getting these to stick?
Has anyone managed to stick these to the nail successfully?

Try setting the striping tape down onto tacky, not completely dry, nail polish or the inhibition layer of gel before applying top coat.

A pair of tweezers will help with precise placement too.

Hi Ami...if you are using the tape with the gel polish then I normally clean the nail with alcohol to take off the sticky layer and let it dry for a couple seconds and then put the metallic tape where you want it on the nail. And then put on the top coat for the gel.

I've never had any luck with it on gel polish. Tried different methods and the ends always lift.
I only use it under clear L&P now [emoji20]

I tried this (sticking it to the inhibition layer) but I had problems with it adhering down the edges of the nail.

I've tried so many times with gel and failed just as may times!

Hmmm, I thought that would do it, but as Ciderella has said above, perhaps not

Could you try lightly buffing the Shine and then striping tape? X

i actually found that it stuck better for me if i removed the inhibition layer!
are you trimming the length right at where you want it to stop? it seemed to help me if i didn't go right up to the edges/ sidewalls of the nails...especially if the client has curvy nails. it's really not noticeable.

good luck!

I trimmed them where I wanted them to end but they still kept coming up at the curve of the nail. I'll try removing the inhibition layer and see if that helps!
I think I might try to buy some more tape from somewhere else and see if I have the same problem. Thank you for your replies
