Ok so I've been to three girls so far to have my Brazilian/Hollywood done. The first girl did ok, but still left quite a few hairs and she did not pluck or even offer to get the leftovers. Just acted like they weren't there. And she even used Perron Rigot!

The second girl used some sort of wax in a plastic pot you heat in the microwave(I was out of town and it had to be done). She had an awesome fast pull, but her wax sucked! She also didn't offer to get the leftovers.

The third girl was an actual esthetician(in some states a licensed cosmetologist IS allowed to do body waxing, some are NOT required to be estheticians, but this girl was), so I kind of expected more from her. She used a soybased wax, which was really nice upon application and she had a really great pull! BUT, she too left even more hair than the others! What the heck? Why am I paying to have a Hollywood/Brazilian done and I'm leaving with just as much hair as a basic bikini wax(its just all over the place, not just in one spot)? Yes I should be saying something before I even leave the shop, but these girls didn't use oil or talc before application so they couldn't really go back and wax the same area again. And I was NOT about to have them rip my skin off just for a few hairs!

It's just really disappointing to know that these girls are making money off something they aren't really good at, NOT to mention it's almost like they don't even care! So, I had a lady yesterday in for a FULL Brazilian, new client. New clients for me take longer as you have to trim and spend a little more time observing growth patterns and being extra careful while getting to know her skin tendencies. I charged her $75 for the FULL Braz., BUT she left with no hair what-so-ever! I will NOT send someone home with something other than what they paid for. Even if it takes me plucking, which doesn't happen often. When I'm finished I give them the mirror and ask them to look and feel, while telling them its beautiful and smooth as can be. My clients have been pleasantly surprised at the results.

Oh! And here's another thing! All 3 girls have always left wax residue on me, so I walk out being stuck to my panties. The asked her if she would check for residue and remove it with oil for me before I left. She didn't mind at all, BUT here's the deal. Ya know the strips you use to remove the wax and hair? Well, she folds one and applies oil to it and then proceeds to rub the areas she's already waxed to remove the residue! I thought I was was going to kick her into the wax table! It hurt so bad! I told her too! I also told her that I usually use something a little softer like a cotton makeup pad or something of the sort, NOT something as harsh as a wax strip! Not to mention, it didn't even come close to removing the residue.

I'm sorry, I'm ranting, but its just so frustrating to know that I'm paying for a very important service to me and I'm going to waxers that either don't know what they are doing, or they just don't have that high standard set towards the services they offer. And for those who are going to ask......no, I cannot wax myself. The angles and the quick pull just aren't happening for me, lol. And I don't trust my hubby to do it. Well, I guess if I can trust these girls to be doing it, I could teach hubby and he'd do about the same job if not better!

I'm excited though because in October for my birthday I asked to go to California and train with Lori Nestore! So hopefully in the near future I can go train AND maybe be a model(getting the good Brazilian I so greatly long for!) HAHAHA

Thanks for letting me vent!

Hi there i know you might not want to hear this but have you tried to use a razor on yourself for a while and see if that helps i know it might not be as good as wax but ive never had to use wax from anyone on myself but i do try my best and shave and i do that myself and that seems smooth you could give that a go until you go for your training good luck with that

I have shaved for years! I will never go back to a razor! LOL Actually I missed a wax last month and decided to shave anyway cause we had a pool party to go to. My skin was so irritated and itchy for a whole stinkin month! Never again will I go back to the razor. Just for the record, with me and shaving, I feel stubble the very next day and I'm not about to shave everyday irritating my skin even more. Waxing keeps the hair at bay for a few weeks, not to mention the hair is finer when it grows back thus reducing the itchiness and ingrowns from course hair. I wasn't blessed with fine shallow-rooted hairs like some people, lol. I've got the course rooted in the brain type hair! HAHA Anyway, I will still continue my search for that AMAZING wax person to do my waxing. Until then I will just sit tight.

Train your hubby!!!

My hubby did a great job of mine last week, he wasn't afraid to get in about 'it' & get every hair off & after a few strips his pull was awesome!

no no no, dont shave,no no no.

Its quite specialist, that means few people offer it, fewer people are actually trained in it, and then even less people are good at it. You wil have to keep searching, ask what experience they have, who or how they trained, that should narrow down to better waxers.

get details of the girls you train with in calafornia, if theve trained with lori, chances are theyll be good and good enough for you!:)

i had this a couple of weeks ago! went and got a brazilian, but she left lots of hairs that were slightly too short. If this happens to me with a client and they don't budge with wax if they are a tad too short then i pluck them, i would never want a client to leave with hairs left, after all the whole reason they've come in the first place is to have the hairs removed!! Anyway, I ended up having to spend about 15mins plucking out the hairs that were left and even found some longer ones, god knows how she missed them!

haha, i trained my mother! Sounds weird, but honestly i have been to bad waxers and id rather instruct my mother (who is very good after only a few pulls!) than someone who sees me as possible competition... I NEVER tell the Esthetician, that i am an Esthetician as well!!
to me its the closest i can get to doing it myself....

I only do waxing on myself now. I have too had bad experiences with my competition. But the good thing for me is that I go to them and see what they do wrong. Then I advertise in the paper about what I do right and what the client should expect. For example, all hairs removed EVERYWHERE! Knickers stay on so for your comfort. All fours a no no! We have over 10 years brazilain and hollywood experience and waxed over 2000 differnt women who return again and again. Then we put the question, What does your waxer do for you?

I get people challenge me on price as well saying so and so down the road charge £10 less than you. So I tell them why I am differnet to so and so. (because I have been to them all lol) Now I never slag them off. I just tell the client what I do. Most book in with me anyway but those that go to these other salons than see what I am talking about and dont experince a proper wax. For example only hair on the pubic bone is removed. Value for money as they say you get what you pay for!

Use these other bad salons to your advantage and corner the market like I did.

When I started out very few clients knew what a hollywood or brazilian were until I opened up and advertised it! The phone rang off the hook with questions but nearly all women booked in and the reason was because they realised there was a solution to shaving and it wasnt a 'taboo' subject anymore!

I soon got booked up morning noon and night doing just waxing and whilst others tried to copy me, my clients stayed true and brought all their friends along too that found out they were getting a bad job at the other places.

Women talk - especially about waxing and your name soon comes out on top as being the best!

Good luck
