Ok so I've been to three girls so far to have my Brazilian/Hollywood done. The first girl did ok, but still left quite a few hairs and she did not pluck or even offer to get the leftovers. Just acted like they weren't there. And she even used Perron Rigot!
The second girl used some sort of wax in a plastic pot you heat in the microwave(I was out of town and it had to be done). She had an awesome fast pull, but her wax sucked! She also didn't offer to get the leftovers.
The third girl was an actual esthetician(in some states a licensed cosmetologist IS allowed to do body waxing, some are NOT required to be estheticians, but this girl was), so I kind of expected more from her. She used a soybased wax, which was really nice upon application and she had a really great pull! BUT, she too left even more hair than the others! What the heck? Why am I paying to have a Hollywood/Brazilian done and I'm leaving with just as much hair as a basic bikini wax(its just all over the place, not just in one spot)? Yes I should be saying something before I even leave the shop, but these girls didn't use oil or talc before application so they couldn't really go back and wax the same area again. And I was NOT about to have them rip my skin off just for a few hairs!
It's just really disappointing to know that these girls are making money off something they aren't really good at, NOT to mention it's almost like they don't even care! So, I had a lady yesterday in for a FULL Brazilian, new client. New clients for me take longer as you have to trim and spend a little more time observing growth patterns and being extra careful while getting to know her skin tendencies. I charged her $75 for the FULL Braz., BUT she left with no hair what-so-ever! I will NOT send someone home with something other than what they paid for. Even if it takes me plucking, which doesn't happen often. When I'm finished I give them the mirror and ask them to look and feel, while telling them its beautiful and smooth as can be. My clients have been pleasantly surprised at the results.
Oh! And here's another thing! All 3 girls have always left wax residue on me, so I walk out being stuck to my panties. The asked her if she would check for residue and remove it with oil for me before I left. She didn't mind at all, BUT here's the deal. Ya know the strips you use to remove the wax and hair? Well, she folds one and applies oil to it and then proceeds to rub the areas she's already waxed to remove the residue! I thought I was was going to kick her into the wax table! It hurt so bad! I told her too! I also told her that I usually use something a little softer like a cotton makeup pad or something of the sort, NOT something as harsh as a wax strip! Not to mention, it didn't even come close to removing the residue.
I'm sorry, I'm ranting, but its just so frustrating to know that I'm paying for a very important service to me and I'm going to waxers that either don't know what they are doing, or they just don't have that high standard set towards the services they offer. And for those who are going to ask......no, I cannot wax myself. The angles and the quick pull just aren't happening for me, lol. And I don't trust my hubby to do it. Well, I guess if I can trust these girls to be doing it, I could teach hubby and he'd do about the same job if not better!
I'm excited though because in October for my birthday I asked to go to California and train with Lori Nestore! So hopefully in the near future I can go train AND maybe be a model(getting the good Brazilian I so greatly long for!) HAHAHA
Thanks for letting me vent!
