Recently I decided to splash out and treat myself to (what I thought) would be a luxurious cut and colour at my local Toni and Guy salon. I went for a consultation before I booked the appointment and they made colour decisions based on this and a chat before the colour. I had what was just over half a head of light blonde highlights which, when finished, looked almost like an all over colour. When the highlights were finished they applied toner all over and left it for about 10 minutes. My hair is now in the most horrendous condition and, without exaggeration, is completely unmanageable. It is really, really dry, has no shine left whatsoever and I can hardly get a comb through it. I have had highlights many times before but never had toner applied so could it possibly be the toner that's caused the problem? I have been using expensive protein masques and leaving it on to try and make it more manageable but that's not working so I'm seriously having to consider having it cut into a bob to try and help me get it back on track.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Hi

I'm not a hairdresser but didn't want to read and run.

I did used to work with hair stylists and toners were used often. I've had them on my hair after highlights many times and did not find it did anything bad to my hair.

Hopefully a professional will be along with more advice

E x
