Had a trade test today at h*********s in a London location. And my. Was I shocked! Sink filled with bowls dirty! Had to wash brushes to use! Dirt towels, hair on the floor. Noone came over to check my work until I had finished all 3 models. I asked the junior how long she had been there. She replied a few months then asked how long I'd been working their for, so she was observant! Am I expecting too much from salons. Are these mini details that I shouldn't be bothered by?! Or should a salon surely be trying to impress a new potential stylist! Sorry for the rant but I was just wondering if anyone else had experiences like this!

Sorry but this post is breaking site rules as you are slandering a salon, don't want you to get in hot water ;)

Ooo I'll replace the name!

I'm glad you told me! Wouldn't like to be kicked off!

Sounds like they were really busy and rushed off their feet.
If I were you, I would have relished the moment as this would have made me less anxious. But I do see your point.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Sounds to me like they need to get a new junior, either to replace the one they have or to help her out. :/

Sounds like they need more staff! Hence why they are trade testing! We have all had manic days when things are less than perfect! If that was the only thing that put you off then I wouldn't worry! And the junior.. maybe she didn't know what else to say, she could have Been nervous? Or there may be some part time staff who do not work very often?

If the worst part of your day was a but of mess and a dippy junior then I don't think it was that bad!

Maybe I did over react a bit! However I went for a trade test at Regis today and got the job!! :)

sounds to me like a normal day in a busy salon and that they need to expand - BUT they should be watching you in a trade test!!!!!

as long as they were not doing anything contravening the rules ie re-using towels etc

i worked in a salon for 9 weeks that were disgusting, we all worked together to write statements and reported them to the authorities, they are still open but hopefully a little more careful ie no razor blades in an open bin...oh the list goes on!

I do understand what it is to be overly busy but it is a little silly to ask someone to come in for a trade test if your so busy! However I judged that experience for my trade test at Regis and got it! It was as the experience made me realise I was capable! (only qualified a year ago)
