Hi, Im totally new to beauty and currenlty have no skills :|. I am looking to start up a little business in uv gel nails but am struggling to find a suitable training course to go on in South Wales/Cardiff so I can get accreditation and start buying from the officaial gel sellers. I have no foundation or manicure accreditation and only want to do uv gels (for now). There are so many different providers and courses I just dont know what is reputable or not. I dont know anyone in the trade so am really stuck on what to do, with whom and what it should cost. Am very scared of being ripped off. Thanks all! :)

I think most reputable gel nail courses require a manicure qualification, a few of the big recognised names are CND, BioSculpture and NSI to name a few (not to sure what's available in your area)
but as far as I'm aware these do require a manicure qualification as this covers in depth anatomy and physiology of the nail and the basic knowledge required to progress into gel, which in the long run is a better foundation to build a business.
why not phone your local college and see what they have available.

one thing I will say is AVOID gel nail courses that are advertised on deal sites, bad very bad

Great thanks both.

I have contacted Sunkissed and will see what they have to offer. in the meantime I also found some courses in Cardiff offered by Carlton Institute of Beauty and Nail Taining Academy. Do you know if these are reputable provider?

No I have no info about them soz, don't pay full price for sunkissed courses mind she put offers up all the time on fb and via email I nearly paid £599 for a course n then the price went down to £150 a week later! Glad I diddnt book lol

I got to be honest , and i am sorry kahuna (i love all your posts by the way) but this company is everything i despise. Their courses might be cheap , but with nails you get what you pay for. I have interviewed several people who have trained with this girl, and they could not even do a basic french polish. They seem to offer a package of qualifications, all accredited, very very cheap, but with no substance what so ever. To the original poster i would suggest CND there is training available in Bridgend (not sure on the spelling) or even the Carlton group, they are based in Cardiff. If you are serious about getting excellent training, then i suggest you look into CND (sweet squared) Young Nails, NSI, Calgel, Bio Sculpture, there are many more. Have you looked at your local sallys services /capital hair and beauty, they offer courses to xx

Lol hence my statement that I can't vouch for the reputation, I thought it was just the hair extension training that was bad on the day because there were only 2 of us 🙈 clearley not lol!

(Just like to add I could already do extensions prior to the course only paid to get the cert for insurance so please don't think their training would be a reflection of my work 😳 lol )

I am not to far away from you, and believe me the reputation of this salon, leaves a lot to be desired. I feel heart felt sorry , for the unsuspecting general public that gets drawn into this cheap training , believing that they will be a professional at 10 different types of nails, eyebrows extensions, eyelash extensions, waxing , hair extensions, and spray tanning etc, for less then 300 quid all . Has professionals we all know that is impossible ,but we need to educate people who use this site, the difference between good and bad training providers. xxx

Wow, the more I read the more confused I get! So many people offering training, so many different UV gel brands, my head is spinning! Appreciate all the replies. I think I need to research more. Am finding this site amazing help! :p
