Virgin hair help!

I've never had my hair colored or processed at a salon before, only box due several years ago which I have since chopped off. I want get my hair lightened, I'm currently level 2 and I want level 4/5. I'm in the Ny metro area (willing to drive down to Jersey for this), how much should I expect for this? Also, how can I tell the hair stylist knows what they are doing? Sorry my friends don't know anyone to recommend so I have no clue on this matter.

Best way to find a salon is look at the salons in the area, then go on their Facebook's or Instagram and look at their work. If you like it go to them, it's normally obvious the difference between the work that they have done and what's generic because of the quality of photography.

Then when you find some you like call them up and ask for a quote
