I have recently decided to take a nail technician course in the hope that when I go back to work from maternity leave I will be able to carry out some mobile work. Eventually I would like this to be my full time work and have looked into the possibility of renting a chair at a salon.
My question is, should I study a NVQ or a VRQ?
The college I like the most offers an VRQ but I am now worrying that this is not as good as an NVQ. I know they are supposed to be equivalent, but is that actually the case?
Thank you!

I think that the difference between the two has narrowed now. VRQ is commonly offered at lots of colleges now and is acceptable for seeking employment with.

VRQ is less of a qualification than NVQ, although you have to do more formative assessments so get more practice in. However from a vrq you can then do an nvq (but not the other way round) also many awarding bodies/colleges are starting to offer technical certificates which are of a much higher standard.
