Just found this old thread and had a related question. I have ordered non woven paper strips from perron rigot, what is the difference between them and the cheaper ones you see in Sally's?

Wow! So thats Paper 100% Material 0%, think i'll be changing to paper then!! As for the re using of wax strips, I agree it seems unhygenic!! However i've seen worse than than that since i've been here!! when i started at the salon, i melted the hot wax pot and found the girl before me had been using this wax and then putting the wax back in the pot with all the hairs in it so it would melt and could be used again  it was discusting, loads of hair floating around in the wax, even long think mens chest hair:!:
Anyway thanks for your input geeks!

I actually always use muslin strips,I dont have a problem with the bits as I always shake them either outside or over the bin.The paper strips I use for cleaning wax off of my equipment. If you're happy using muslin strips I dont see why you should change. What others do isn't necessarily right or what you have to do.

As for waxing eyebrows I always do and I use strip wax for it with no problems.I do have a couple of clients who prefer me to tweezer but most like the effectiveness of waxing as all the fine hair is removed,it's far quicker and less painful than either threading or tweezering.Had threading done once before and found it the most painful thing ever. Each to their own though eh!!!

Paper ones for me too. Material ones are too floppy-never got on with them!
How can you wash wax strips? Surely you wouldn't be able to get the wax off!
Whenever i've dropped a bit of wax on a towel. it doesn't wash out.
What is she thinking dirty mare!

I use the Bonded Fibre stips ( bit more flexible than paper ones)
I personally really like them & prefer them to material & paper.

OMG! Washing wax strips! - Think you may find yourself picking up some of her waxing clients!!!!!!
That couldn't possibly be how the spanish teach them to do it!
They must have hygeine standards. Ewww Never offer to let her do your waxing!!!!!

As for getting wax off of towels - Top tip is to boil a kettle & tip on wax spot then rub with wax stip & wash in machine as normal ( the boiling water melts the wax the strip removes excess!, Then machine removes the rest) - Done that a few times.

Ooh thanks will give that i try! I do use the bonded strips anyway.

Hi , I find calico or spun lace to be the best by far, have not used cotton and always struggled using them they would always be very messy and stick to everything.

You can buy the calico and spun lace which is very good in a roll so you can cut to size but time consuming I did recently purchase some from the Manchester beauty show from Mancine Cosmetics they are probably the best I have tried.

I am with Tigi. Paper for everything but underarm and bikini area and then I cut them in two lengthways for easier handling. :)

heyyyy
i loveee material ones for painful waxing e.g underarm and bikini!! i think they work wonders, although as do paper. however cutting your own sounds a little faffy and as paper do the same job... paper would be your better option. however.... washing & re using... sounds insane. never heard of that one before.

hth.... happy waxing xxx

i would neva use material again its sooo annoying paper is defo the best no flopping and no bits :) . x

Try hot wax for "painful" waxing. I'll get flamed for this but I believe that bikinis, underarms, lip/chin should be done only with hot wax. Far kinder to the skin, less painful for the client.
I use strip wax only for legs/arms/backs/buttocks/chest/abs. Everything else is hot wax.
