Hi any advice appreciated - am planning on using the wella special blonde - possibly 12/81 for regrowth with 30 vol - natural base 6 - 70% white hair ! Done a strand test and it came up quite violet on the against the pre lighted hair!
Slight Over lapping may occur as this is short hair when a regrowth of half a inch !
Can I mix 12/1 + 12/81 half and half with 30 vol / then emulsified and leave 10/mins once developed to blend and tone ?!
Any advice using this product please - I have not got a lot of experience using high lifts or bleach on the scalp

Wouldn’t go higher than 30 vol on the scalp

Any help ????
Anyone

Hi . What’s your desired result ?

Lift to a 10 - and achive even colour all over - my client also very natural light around the front hairline

Wouldn’t go higher than 30 vol on the scalp
I would use 12/89, I always find the 12/81 overtones and takes a while to fade off

Hi . What’s your desired result ?
Lift to a level 10 at least - ash cool blonde not warm - my worry is it will be too warm and not blend

On its own and with 30vol ?
Am not comfortable using 40vol in scalp but have read it’s used with special blonde ?
Thanks for feedback

12/1 will not cover the grey but should lift the 6 to a 9 using 12% . If the grey is quite evenly scattered it will blend and the overall effect should be about a10 ?

Wella special blondes I find on a base below a 7/8 go really warm no matter what tone - they kick out so much gold and I’ve tried them all.
I find 12/89 lifts best and I use it with 40vol and leave on an hour.

I agree , however it’s a different matter when they have some natural grey ! I turned someone lilac last year using 12.89 with 70%grey

I normally leave the very light grey/whiteareas and only apply the hi lift for 15-30 mins as I find that’s all they need to not over tone and blend in with the rest of the colour.

Thank you guys - I think I have a plan .... you have confirmed a lot of my fears and worries and helped greatly xx
First time using this site today / recently started up on my own so it’s very helpful to get some advice that I would normally seek from another stylist when I worked in salon

Great this is what I was thinking - I will be working very visually and hoping it all comes together
Still unsure about using 40 vol - will I still not achieve 3-4 levels of lift with 30 - perhaps leave it on longer too !?

Great
The white hair is evenly spread through also so this could help

I think with 30 vol you won’t get the lift you will need and will be stuck with orange/golden roots. I always tell clients to expect a little scalp irritation but not to scratch as it wears off after 10 mins or so and they all agree.

Ok I’ll take your advice - thank you

He's right you won't get the lift you need with 30vol. Especially as you want a clean result. I've never had anyone complain about sensitivity When using 40vol with tint or highlift?

If she has so much white hair maybe it may be better to use a 9, I'm just thinking out loud, but if you did that then you wouldn't have the rid of it overtoning.

It's just if I had a client with that much white hair I wouldn't think highlift... because you don't need that much lift. But it depends how much the white is spread throughout the hair. Sorry this probably isn't much help [emoji23]

I agree too, I have a client who's hair is a 7 but has a lot of white hair spread evenly throughout so I use 12/89 12% it's helps soften the white hairs so they're not so course and brings her base uo to a nice clean level 10
