Hi all,

Just had 2 clients come back for a re balance whom i did their nails 3 weeks ago. However on some of them they had lifted really bad, some hadn't & also some had brown stains on her natural nail. One had a green stain on nail. They never mentioned them, although when they first came to me (she had gone to another tech before) she said oh thats been their for ages. As i wasn't too sure of what to say i said nothing (i know not very professional).

Please help me,what should i do nexttime they come?

Any help would be fab x

what did you do about the stains this time?

The brown stains buffed off wen i was prep the nail plate for a rebalance. However it was the green stain i was unsure what to do with. I have never come across anything like this before.

Sound to me like the green satin is a bacterial infection. You need to remove the nail enhancement, prep really well and reapply product asap, even if it means bringing the client in again before her next appointment. This will either have happened due to insufficient prep or could be down to a crack in the product which has allowed bacteria to fester.

Dont panic just do as I have recommended and if you have to bring your client back in just ring her and say ' I have been thinking about your discoloured nail and think it would be better for me to keep an eye on it more than regular, then when she comes in say I think I will remove it before your next appointment and put fresh product on, it will give me piece of mind and you nails will look better'

Warning!- all the green may not go when you re-do the nail- DONT WORRY about this it's normal for this to happen, as long as it hasnt gone dark agin when you next see her it will be fine.

Hope this helps x

Hi hon,

Thanks i did remove the original enhancement as it had lifted that much i thought it would be best to remove. SO hopefully i have done best.
I was just amazed at the condition they where in, none of my other clients come back like this. Could it be how they are looking after them at home. The client has had enhancements on for 15 years she said, and she never said anything about them! I was just taken aback slightly.

If your other clients come back in a totally different condition to hers then i'm gussing it's the way she is treating them. Next time ask her if she normally has them looking that way when her rebalance is due, if yes then you need to advise her 9or should that be stress to her) about aftercare. What does she do for a living? that maybe a factor. She may say normally her nails are fine when her appoinment is due , then you need to fish around a bit- state that you cant understand it as none of your other clients come back like this and she may start telling a few home truths then.

It is surprising tho how you can do exactly the same on people and they come back totally different. some of my clients come back every 2 weeks and tehy are a right mess, then others only get chance to come every 5 weeks but I know every time that their nails will lok perfect-no lifting cracking at all. Just treat it as another thing under your belt and recommend to her she comes more often for a rebalance if it carries on- I sometimes do this and knock a couple of quid off cos they are comin more often as an incentive.

Sorry if there is spelling mistakes, cant be bothered reading all my blurb!

Thanks hon,

It has really baffled me, i remember when she firstcame to me from her lasttech they looked the same as they did today. Maybe it is how she treats them at home. I am going to give her one of my aftercare leaflets (forgot again today~sometimes i have a brain like a sieve LOL!) I know she works in catering & her daughter who came as well is a housewife, i will have to see whatthey are like at nextappointment.

Thanks again chick x

Sounds like you've had your first greenie!! What you must be very hot on is your sanitation as it is very easy to cross contaminate to other clients. So dispose of any files you use and sanitise all your metal products, and really clear your work station.
