Hey Guys

Really looking for some help. I am currently working 9-5 in an office but in the current climate my job is not always going to be safe and to be honest I really fancy a change of career. I am really interested in the beauty industry and would maybe like to start off with some freelance work before making the big change. I currently have no official qualification (in that trade) and have been trying to find a course that would suit. I have located a part-time HNC in beauty thereapy at a local college but I am unsure if this would be the right course for what I want to do.

Location - Glasgow

Please help!!! :irked:

Welcome to Salon Geek!

Do you have an idea of which area of beauty therapy you might be interested in? Getting a good all round qualification is a great way to learn the essentials and to decide if you'd like to specialise. You'll need some kind of formal qualification before you can get insurance which you must have before you lay a finger on the public, paying or otherwise.

Im also new on here, isnt it amazing!!!!:)
I've never worked in the beauty industry before but one of those people who LOVES getting treatments done.

I just did an eyelash extension course and have been practicing on friends and family.Im also due to do my Minx nails training which im so excited about.Maybe u could start doing courses for specific treatments if you are not sure exactly what u want to do.

I think the more experienced geeks on here will know more than me and will defo help u out

Good luck!!!xx

I'm new here too and have no formal qualifications in the beauty industry. I'm currently training in nouveau lashes and practicing on my friends and I hope to complete other courses after the new year. I would say eyelash extensions, nails and tanning is really popular right now. I agree with gilly, I'm sure the most experienced geeks will help you out. By the way, love glam fairy LOL!!!:)

Thanks Ladies

I defo think I would specialise in nails but I want to do fake tan aswell as I KNOW I would get alot of business for that in my area. However, I would also like to provide general services like waxing, eyebrow tints etc. I obviously have no intention of practicing until I am qualified, I just wanted to find out what course I should do. Would it be worth my while doing a local college course or is the best way to do a fast track course in specialised beauty therapy??

xx
