Hi I'm thinking of having extensions but was wondering which are less damaging to hair?
I have just above shoulder length thick hair and Its light brown and blonde is there a type that won't show the bonds or clips up on lighter hair? As u can tell I have no knowledge at all of extensions, I'm a hairdresser but have never trained in extensions

I have thick hair which needs straightening as it's frizzy and I have half head highlights ..... Can u do all this with extensions in still?
I think I will only need half a head anyhow???

Thanks x

Half head is for thickening, so I'm sure from what you've said you don't want that! Full head for lengthening.
You can treat the extensions as you would your own hair but with a bit more care and attention. They won't damage your hair at all, as long as you have them fitted by a qualified fitter and have correct maintenance and aftercare. If you're worried I'd suggest micro rings. You can still have hair coloured but just avoid the bonds, t-section is all I usually do, them when they're all removed after 3 months I do a full head clout and a good trim. X

Hiya!

I would recommend going for a full head, especially as your hair is above shoulder length and quite thick..the least noticeable method on blonde hair is the fusion keratin bonded because the bonds are discreet, longer lasting and are clear/amber coloured.

You may still straighten your hair whilst they're in, just avoid straightening over the bonds:) x

Would the bonds be put on top or is that left natural I don't like the idea of being able to see the bonds, I like to wear my hair up as well will they be noticeable on sides and back?
The method u suggested keratin bonds how are they removed and so they damage hair? As Ideally I'd like to maintain my own hair condition as Its growing?
How is it best to find a good extentionst ? Is there a recommendation section on here?
Thanks ladies x

They are removed with extension pliers and an acetone solution. I use a Balmain gun, as long as a qualified extensionist removes them there is no damage. Fitting extensions are no different then colouring/cutting hair, if they're fitted by a qualified extensionist there no problem, the same as colouring cutting hi lighting, done by a qualified hairdresser no problems, carried out by a novice and disaster! I'm a hairdresser and extensionist there's lots of extensionist a out there that aren't hairdressers, always ask that question if you're worried. I'm in Chelmaford so not far from you if you want to know more on me or wait and see what everyone else comes up with x

Thanks fuzion do u have a website with pictures and prices etc? X

Where are you based? I also do hair extensions in London and the surrounding area and I'm mobile.

Oh and Fuzion your website is really really nice!

Hi ya I'm based in Birmingham and I am a freelance extensionist I do micro bonds/ rings and these are little metal rings that' are lined with silicone to stop damage to the hair, I also do pre bonded and this is the safest glue method. If I'm honest it sounds like you have hair like me and I wear micro rings which I love and you really cannot tell I have them in x
