Please could someone help? I am a nail trainee, but all my nail plates have turned completely white! I have clear gel extensions on at the minute (mylee builder gel - bottled) with an inlay of silver stars so I can see right through to my natural nail. should I be worried?

Can you post some photos for us?

Could be dehydration or incorrectly removed enhancements, but hard to tell without seeing.

If you are very worried I’d suggest taking them off and reassessing from there. Nail products change colour in UV so even going for a walk on a sunny day or spf, all sorts. My pink gel toes are now white I’ve left them on for 7 weeks as I can’t face doing them.

So before panicking remove and check.

Looks blue to me rather than white so if it’s a circulation thing it could be helped by massaging your hands and fingers and seeing if that makes a difference.

Unless you mean the part of the nail that has grown away from The skin, attached to the acrylic as it’s simply where the glue has started to come away in tiny areas and you can see it.

Thank you for the advice. Last time I used this gel it did the same thing after 48 hours, but when i used hybrid gel it didn't. confused.

I don't think uv has caused it, as then the whole nail would be discoloured and its only the nail plate, which suggests to me there's something going on underneath. do you think it's possible that water going underneath has caused it?

i've only had them on for 48 hours, as per last time

As you know we aren’t allowed to give medical advice but there’s nothing to say I shouldn’t tell you to google blue nail beds.

If you have checked every product and your routine to a t and you can’t find what it is, use all of them individually with other products to see if you notice any differences and can find the culprit.

Ive never heard of a blue nail plate, however I have seen blue nail beds that are visible through the nail plate.

Thank you, will take them off for now :)

Just wanted to show you the difference after soaking off one nail (opposite hand). Normal pink nail plate from what I can see. Anyone got any thoughts? xx

Can see much better from this photo.

Likely the pressure from the acrylics.

Press your bare nail now and have a look

it all looks ok thank goodness. I was just scared of having an infection for my course coming up in three weeks. Now I don’t know if I can wear this brand, or maybe not any? Is the white harmless do you think? Xx

it seems they’re cutting off my blood supply then, but interestingly it doesn’t appear for 48 hours. They don’t feel heavy or uncomfortable, it’s builder gel. I’m foxed, lol Xx
