Hi ladies

Just a quick one - I’ve had a customer send me this photo and say she’s had a painful finger since last time she had her nails done. (It may be picked off gel polish but not confirmed) but she is wondering as am I why her white is growing in wonky now and now straight? Sorry if this sounds like a daft question but I can’t find the answer on google!!
Thanks for any advise x

Google 'onycholysis' - it's basically separation of the nail plate from the nail bed. Usually down to trauma, picking, pulling, biting, etc. Over enthusiastic cleaning out of under the nail can break the seal of the hypernychium which can cause it too. Over thinning of the nail is another reason, as can be some medications such as chemotherapy, etc.

Its because that part of the nail has become detached from the nail bed. If you look down the barrel of her nail you will see where its not attached.

No wonder it hurts, shes might have poked it with a key or something similar to cause the damage/pain or it could be from picking xx

I had this a few years ago and literally babied my nails with cuticle oil. Massaged in a few times a day amd within a few weeks they were back to normal x

Thank you so much for your help xxxx

This can also be caused by over-filing x
