Hi guys, i had my first booking the other day,not really official as it was someone my dad told about me, as he is a business valuer. So they phoned my house phone the other day.
The only thing is it is an old people home. She has asked me to go at one day (not till sept, luckily), and she said from 2pm onwards. i surpose it depends how many people want something done. She hasnt told any of the people yet, so i said i would ring nearer the time so i can have a rough idea of how many people im doin!

she said for manicure and massage. My question is obviously i wouldnt charge them my normal prices, i wouldnt do like a spa manicure would i? i would just do like a mini manicure yeah? And i thought dad had said for manicure, so wasnt expecting her to want massage aswell. what would i do for this?
I wouldnt be getting them up on my couch would i? would i just do something i can do with them sitting down, like a foot massage or something?

Anyone else ever done work like this. would love any help guys!

Thanx xxx

I think it is simply what she is asking for, a straight-forward manicure to include a nice hand/arm massage. It might help to get a rough idea of how many clients they want you to work on so that you can factor in time/cost and then find out if they are happy with the charges you propose. If they feel it is too expensive, perhaps suggest you omit the massage or simply make it a very short massage, if this is going to be too time consuming and prevent you getting around to everyone within a set timescale.

Sorry, is that what you were asking - it threw me when you asked about "getting them up on a couch"!

hey thanx for that advice. sorry prehaps i didnt explain the couch bit! lol, im a swedish masseuse as well as a nail technician you see, so im not sure what type of massage she wanted, wether she thought people would want a swedish massage, or she meant with the manicure like you said! she didnt really give me time to ask much as she seemed in a hurry on the phone!

Any ideas what sort of prices to charge? My dad said i shouldnt charge much more than £5 for a mini manicure. obviously i charge more than this normally for a mini manicure, but as its at an old peoples home i dont think its that fair on them. i dunno what the norm is really!

Hi there.....
HtH
This may not be everyones cup of tea but you wont know till you try.
I have assissted a hairdresser that visited such lovely people.

Firstly may I suggest that you call.. make a time to visit prior to the booking.
Depending on the frailties of the residents your services may be modified from those you perform regularly.
Visit with the residents.
Briefly meet each person and assess from there how much can be done to each.

I found that the attention span of some a little well...Short.xoxox
It is difficult to keep some with a full manicure service.
Less is best.
The fingernails- toenails more than likely need trimming-cutting.
You can deciede if you can soak or just dry manicure- pedicure.
Dry worked better for us.
An exfoliation followed by a nice hand- forearm massage would be nice...
I recommend the Solar Manicure Range,
Oil - Butter - S-Manicure crystals.
A file n shape. Enamel if you still have their attention.
Olive oil and Raw Sugar is a great home blend for exfoliant. Can be used all over the body.

For the requested massage's
I would assess.
Who is able to get up and out of bed. And who isnt.
At a guess the massage would involve
Hand to Forearm - Neck - back - shoulders [these can be done seated]
Quick effective services that accomplish the result would be my choice.
If you have some that can handle a more detailed service then you can prep for those next time.

All the best to you
