I'm a fairly new cosmetologist. I graduated from a Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in March. I've been using Goldwell Silklift Lightener with 20 volume for my highlights since December that lifts me to a nice pale yellow. I occasionally tone my hair with Goldwell Colorance 10P on my roots and a mixture of 10N/10V on my ends when they need it. Now I usually just shampoo and condition with my purple shampoo and conditioner. Previous to that my hair was balayaged at the old salon I worked at with Aveda. My natural level ranges between a Level 7/8. I'd say it's more a 7.5 or an 8 with neutral undertones. I'm currently a Level 10 natural blonde. I've attached pictures of my natural level and current level I am at. My question is I'm switching from highlights to a global blonding touchup. I'm trying to keep the integrity of my hair as healthy as I can while still being very blonde. I'm thinking of switching to either a Level 11 High Lift Hair Color with 30/40 volume or a Creme Lightener with 20 volume on scalp. Now my first question is with the High Lift, would a 30 volume get me to the Level 10 I am already on my midshaft and ends or should I go with 40 volume? My second question, as you can see by the title of this question is would high lift hair color with 30 or 40 volume be more damaging than creme lightener with 20 volume? If I go with high lift color, the formula I was possibly going to use was either Goldwell Topchic or Wella Koleston, I've never worked with Koleston. My formula with Goldwell I was thinking would be 10g 11P + 10g 11N + 5g 11V + 60g 30 or 40 volume. Do I have the proportions right if I want to tone the warmth while lifting but end up with a more natural color result? I appreciate anyone's input, thanks!
