I have been offering Minx for the last month, I work from home and my competition is the local town just 3 miles away, 2 salons there offer Minx at only £16.00, and further salons just one mile from there are charging, £13.00!!! & £16.00. I was gutted when I did my research as was determined this summer to add Minx onto my services. So many clients were asking about it that I decided to go ahead and offer and charge the £16.00 in hope that recommendations would be made and clients would then come on board and add on and make use of my other treatments. Every time I put my all into applying my Minx I do wonder why on earth am I only charging £16.00. But what do you do when high street salons set the price caps. Really when this happens we are ALL missing out and individuals like myself trying to build a business from home suffer. You could say "dont offer the Minx" but in the business we are in, keeping up with the competition is everything. got that off my chest!

i saw a thread on here about size of minx changing and profit.. i just thought i'd share this !! i have just minxed a client's toes and used the 2 largest . ( big toes) then i used no 4 size on one foot and 4 size on the other so in total 4 minx on a full set:D yes they were the leopard ones and you can turn sideways .. so i have just done my toes in fishnet and also only used 4.. so profit wise its fab for me xx mind you french mani and clear with tattoo efect .1.5 out of one :D elisa

£15 for a set of minx? Omg is it worth doing it? There is no profit and no earnings out of that. I charge £35 for a set on toes and I have customers willing to pay that as my minx on toes always lasts over 8 weeks so clients think they are getting a bargain.
I dont see why your clients would be unhappy with the sizes they should be oblivious Its only if you have been having a moan about it to them that they would air their feelings...
I very rarely do fingers anymore as no demand and I advise clients its really for special occasions, a few times if they want fingers then I cap with L&P to make it last slightly longer.
How can you honestly charge £15 then complain about not being able to get more out of a set now that they have changed the sizing? I was a little dissapointed with them I have to admit but once I saw that now it doesn't matter what size my clients nails are I can find the perfect fit rather than turning them sideways as I used to I love the new sizing. And I still have enough left over to do either another set or a couple of french's with the leftovers.
Do yourself a favour and charge the proper prices then you will have no need to complain if any other changes come in.
Minx is a high end product and if you market it properly you will have clients biting your hands off at the correct price.
The mind boggles are you running a business or a charity?

I have to agree, I didn't like the new size at first glance, but having done a few now I really like them, as they fit the wider toes without having to patch them. £15.00 a set is a charity!!! And your clients know it. If you undercut others you will be the one which loses out in the long run as your profit margin is Zero. Don't just count the cost of the Minx sheet itself but cost in prep and completion time, Cuticle work etc. You don't have to be greedy, but give yourself a pay which is worth a top end product and your pay for your well earnt 'time'. Have a bit of pride in what you do and make people pay the proper prices. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh but i've had so many people come to me after going to 'Cheaper' people, they want to know the difference and feel that I give them a much better service as I won't cut back on what I do. They get a full service and they have to pay for it. My minx again lasts 6 to 8 weeks, so my clients are very hapy to pay for it.

I can actually feel my cheeks burning with embarresment after reading all your comments....:o

I know Im too cheap with my prices, I originally did my Creative L&P course over 10 years ago and have had children and got myself back up and running in business about a year ago.

However I am very good at my job and do not undersell my products and services, but how can I now suddenly tell everyone im putting my prices up???

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I want to keep my existing clients and dont want to now upset them with higher prices.

ps, I am mobile so thought I should be a little cheaper than salons and would rather be competitive and be busier....

Thanx in advance for your thoughts x

I'm not being horrid - if you are mobile then you need to put your prices up or does your petrol not cost you anything either?? I would tell your clients that due to ever increasing prices you have swallowed in the past but now have to charge a little extra as you can't continue. An extra £5 will cover the increases you have incurred. I charge £20 for a set of finger or toes, but I offer and set of fingers and toes for £38. That is the going rate for where I live. I wouldn't dream of charging anything less thats what makes you competitive not cheap. You may be 'busier' than others, but whose making more money?? Good Luck.
