I currently allocate 2 hours to each L&P appointment and infill. I'm getting much busier and I've had to turn new clients down which is the last thing I want to do so I need to ensure I'm working effectively.

The sets I did yesterday took me around 1hr 15 mins and were all new clients with gel polish and glitter so I'm leaving too long inbetween but I work from home and I get really stressed about running over time and having clients waiting. I also wouldn't want to feel rushed or my client to feel that either.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Change your slots to 1.5hours and see how you go, its your business lovely and nothing is set in stone, you can always go back to 2 hourly slots if it doesn't work.

Once you start booking 1.5 hour slots I'd start gently reminding clients that they need to be on time, only those that are habitually late obviously.

Suck it and see! :p;)

Thanks Trinity, I know I need to. I have clients that get lots of different nails, swarovskis etc and take a while to decide. I need to give them less options I think and try to advise rather than letting them take 10 mins to decide.

I'll try it with my lovely regular clients as I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I did overrun slightly.

I'm grinding my teeth at the thought of the stress already lol.

Then don't do it yet, wait until it seems like the only thing you want to do. Don't make it stressful, the last thing life needs to be is more stressful :)

I start my appointment with 'right...what colour are we going with today?...You've got until I send you to wash your hands to decide (for my L&P clients obviously) if you don't chose by then, I chose for you!' :D

Gets them thinking before you need to know, I also throw out some suggestions to get them started and steer them to what I want to do ;)

I allow a 15 min safety gap on my appointments to allow for lateness, comfort break, changing equipment etc. Sometimes they also want a quick lip or brow wax to which I can then say Yes (more dosh £££).
For clients who are unpredictable in the time they might take, I book them in just before my lunch break or on the end of the day . This way I don't run late for other clients.

It depends on the Client. If I know they are faffers I will allow more time, if they are a new Client I will also allow for more time.

Obviously you want to offer extra services to upsell so you don't want to be rushing or doing yourself out of another service but if you are having a lot of downtime and turning people away you could be fitting in one extra Client a day! It's a balancing act.

If a Client has arrived late and therefore is overrunning and my next Client arrives I always make a point of saying "are you okay for a few minutes whilst I get xxxxx a drink as we are running a bit overtime" they can't really say no as it's their fault and it also plants a seed that appointment times are bookings not guidelines and your time is as valuable as theirs.

Thanks for all the advice. I've gone for it and booked in 7 sets of L&P for Friday. If all goes to plan it will be an enjoyable and profitable day!

Keep your fingers crossed for me [emoji4]

Blimey! I couldn't do 7 in a day, what hours are you working to fit that lot in? Make sure you are taking care of yourself too lovely, lunch break, stretches, hydration, etc,

I won't be finished until around 9pm but it's all new clients and so far almost all of my clients (3 exceptions I think) have rebooked and the majority are now regulars so I'm willing to put in a few extra hours for those going on holiday and hope they rebook.

I'm off on the Saturday as I rarely get any bookings then!

I'd be crippled, my fingers would be bleeding, my back knackered and cross eyed!

Take away and a bottle of wine needs to be waiting for when you finish

Why would your fingers be bleeding ? That worrys me lol

Because I'm stupid, I always put my finger in the same place to protect clients fingers when pulling the lateral walls out of the way, and file my own knuckle. I can do 4 sets before it starts bleeding, 12 years and you'd think I'd know better by now but I always do it

I've already got the wine...priorities [emoji6]
I sat in traffic for 2 hours tonight to take my daughter to theatre school so think have a glass tonight just to sample it! Still got the journey home to do though.

I have seen many of your posts on nail mail ciderella, maybe some retail therapy as well as a bottle of wine :)

I've overspent big time hence the 7 sets on Friday lol

lol....i dread to think, nothing is cheap where nails are concerned! you may need another 7 sets next Friday :(

I managed it! Lots of pretty nails, happy clients and a happy but tired me [emoji16]
Last client sent me the last pic when she booked the appointment then arrived with the 1st pic and left with the 2nd. That set took 2 hours so I'm glad it was my last appointment. Not perfect but she loved them and was understanding that I wouldn't do them any longer
When they are so short is there anything I could do to improve how they look?

Is that gel or acrylic ciderella? and how did you make them matte? I'm quite new to acrylics myself, currently struggling to learn the basics
