Botox has long been used to treat various facial lines but a new licence issued by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency marks the first time it can legally be used on crow's feet. The approval comes hot on the heels of the FDA's decision in September to license it in the USA.

The new licence means that the drug is now approved for the "temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to sever lateral canthal lines (crow's feet) seen at maximum smile, either alone of when treated at the same time as glabellar (or frown) lines seen at maximum frown, in adult patients where these facial lines have an important psychological impact."

The licence has been granted specifically to botulinum toxin type A produced by Allergan based on the outcome of the brand's clinical trials that involved over 1,350 people.

Until then...geek on!
