New research published by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) reveals that fewer people are turning to plastic surgery. The number of procedures recorded in the UK in 2014 decreased by 9%.
The UK saw just 45,506 cosmetic surgeries performed although liposuction procedures grew 7% year on year proving that fat reduction is still the most popular treatment.
The biggest losers in the plastic surgery game were those that appeared to create more drastic and noticeable changes: breast augmentation, nose jobs and tummy tucks. Less obvious treatments such as eyelid surgeries and face/neck work remained more or less the same.
Former president of BAAPS, Rajiv Grover, commented on these results saying, "In cosmetic surgery the natural, less-is-more look is definitely on the rise."
These numbers could influence the salon industry with more and more people searching for non-invasive, non-medical treatments.
Until then...geek on!
