Hi everyone. I'm new on here and have just started an essential nails complete gel career pack. I've just moved on to applying tips to the number 13 nail with the number 4 tip. It is driving me insane! I'm wasting so many nails and tips as I keep getting air bubbles under the tip no matter what I do. I've also tried changing to the number 6 nail with the number 2 tip but I still get a tiny air bubble. Please tell me I'm not the only one having this problem?! All help welcome :) x

I'm on the same course as you and it's just a case of practice practice practice im afraid! It takes a while to get the right combination of glue amount and application technique but you'll get there in the end. If you don't want to waste tips I would recommend using cuticle oil in place of glue to practice getting the correct amount on the tip and then practice the correct application technique. Obviously the tip won't stick to the nail but it means you can get lots of technique practice without wasting product :)

Thanks for that :) I have practised with the cuticle oil but then when I no onto the glue I still get air bubbles. I did a couple today without big air bubbles but when I looked really closely I could see tiny tiny air bubbles on the nail plate. I don't know if that's acceptable or not? I've also been through 30 tips and still not happy. Is this normal? X

Are you applying enough adhesive to the tip?

Also you don't want to hold the tip horizontally above the nail, hold the tip at an slight angle, place it up against the nail and then push it up into place. This should help avoid air bubbles.

Hi I too have done an EN course in acrylic tip and overlay and to complete it took me the best part of 2 boxes of tips and nails for the trainer hand. I completely agree with the above comment defo a case of practice makes perfect what I also found was they are a lot easier to apply on a real person and although the hand is a fab tool it it's completely different to working on a real person. I graduated with EN and have now gone onto do my NVQ level 3 nail services with a local training company the course is fantastic and has given me so much more confidence and also improved my skills a million %

I think I'm applying too little adhesive on one go and then too much on the next as it then spills out a bit at the top. Its really frustrating but hopefully I'll get it in the end?! When I place the tip on I hold it at about a 45 degree angle and then slowly pull it down til I hear the click. Then I roll the back of the tip down. Is this right? Sorry about all the questions but I'm so desperate to get it right. I've been wanting to do this course for ages and now I'm doing it I'm disappointed in myself lol x

Sounds to me like your doing it right :) just keep at it and eventual it will just click :)

Ok it sounds like you've got the correct technique but you need to practice making sure you use the right amount of adhesive. Adhesives vary in their consistency and application methods, some are brush on, some you apply to both the nail and the tip some only the tip.....which are you using?

Thanks for all your reassuring comments. Much appreciated :) I use the glue that comes out of the tip. I'll just grit my teeth and get on with it. I'm glad I'm not the only one to have had this trouble! X

I've also tried applying some only to the tip and then some to the tip and the nail x
