After 23 years doing all styles I've now retired from the wedding scene I'm finding as I'm getting older I'm finding doing wedding hair is becoming more stressful. Plus I love my Saturdays to myself now.

So would you bother going on a course or just say it's not something your salon offers ?

Just curious as to how other salons handle it [emoji6]

I'm freelance now so can pick and choose what I do. In past few salons I was in 1 of them never was asked to do up dos/bride as city salon and other I did the occasional up do but other stylists would take the bride. I always made it clear I hate doing it. I was never pushed to do something I didn't want to do. Funny thing is when I first trained I loved doing them and was good, but absolutely loath them now. I know so many stylists who specialise in weddings and up/dos I just pass on their details.

It's what's great about being part of a team in a salon. We all have different talents and can collectively play to different strengths. I once had a client who used to say "do what you like" she liked Mohawks, shaved on one side etc and out there styles. That's really not my thing, so I had no hesitation in recommending her on to my co worker who was mad as hatter. They got on brilliantly and together produced some fun creative looks. Then one day she booked back in with me for her sisters wedding to be sorted out with softer colouring, cut and styled. I think it's great when we as hairdressers can recommend each other so the client has the perfect fit and also feels comfortable to see different stylists. Retains the client within the salon rather than going else where.

I hate women's short cuts and bobs,
Also hair up!

You hate bobs? I love bobs... Hate fidgety clients who want bobs...

Bobs and short cuts terrify me! I need more confidence in it! X

Def takes practice with the shorter cuts as they are not forgiving when you make a mistake. I love cutting hair. Love doing curly blow dries and funky colours.

I hope you charged her extra fro this! I hate it when client book in for one thing and then turn up with a hidden agenda!
Your so right it is hidden agenda !! And then I had to wash it as well which made hair slippy [emoji37].. All wrong from start to finish ..

I love the idea of recommending another stylist to do up dos ... Sounds really civil .. But in the real world it's a bit cut throat and I would be worried about her then trying the other stylist out for her regular colour .. [emoji47] I suppose that's business though

Who has hair up now a days anyhow .. Should be banned ...scrubbed off the menu [emoji23]

I love having my hair put up!

It happens very rarely mind!

I think there are so many quick and fresh hair up styles, hair up got painted with the old-fashioned brush like perming has, but there are lots of modern undone styles that look amazing. Having said that I never touch a kirby grib #colouralltheway :p

Unless training has changed since I trained the basic things to get signed off where do old fashioned and boring that put me off doing them! I think a lot of people's opinions may be different if it followed with the times abit more!

Although I hate doing them myself I love watching other people do them!

I turn down perms all the time, I can't stand doing them. gents I turn away too, hate doing them. youngsters wanting huge colour corrections (when you know they've bleached the crap out of it then box coloured over it & have no intention of maintaining what you do to them) won't do them. I really hate the combing out part after removing extensions too

I love the combing out after removing extensions.

I will personally pay for you to come to my salon to take that job over next time! Haha I really hate it, somethings it takes longer than actually taking the extensions out!

I'm the same I'd do it all day long!!

I don't do up do's, chem straightening and extensions I refer these to someone else.
