You know that idea you've had for ages? The one that you're convinced is going to change the industry if only you had the support and the resources to get it going? Well, BABTAC, Professoinal Beauty and Olympia Beauty want to hear about it. They are launching a competition to reward innovation in the industry and if they think your idea rocks then they'll give you £8,000 to help you make it into a reality.
The prize will be awarded to at Professional Beauty 2014 to any talented individual, entrepreneur, inventor, beauty/hair/nail company with the best idea for a product or service that the industry has not seen before. Your application will need to demonstrate potential for commercial growth, revealing how to idea could be applied industry-wide into a lucrative hit.
Carolyne Cross, Chair of BABTAC & CIBTAC, explains, "As industry leaders, we are excited that this initiative will inspire therapists and we anticipate a high level of finalists who can prove that they stand out from the crowd with their plan. This competition supported by both Olympia and Professional Beauty, will showcase the professionalism of the industry and reinforce the fact that beauty professionals have to excel at business, finance and publicity as well as be highly trained in their field. Innovation in business is a hot draw at the moment and we expect lots of attention from this competition.
She continues, This competition is not limited to individuals already in the beauty industry; it is open to a wider audience with anyone who has a concept, idea, product or service which could revolutionise our industry. Aspiring entrepreneurs to inventors with a new technological product, we welcome all entrants.
Submit your innovation concept of the core business idea and goal in no more than 400 words, via [email protected] by 31st July 2013; along with the completed application form found at BABTAC, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology. From this 20 successful applicants will be selected and each will need to provide a two and a half minute video clip of their concept to the BABTAC panel.
810 semi-finalists will then be chosen to perform a five minute presentation live on stage at Olympia Beauty in September 2013; which will be recorded, put online BABTAC membership organisation offering insurance policies open for a public vote. By 1st December 2013, a combination of 4 5 finalists selected from the panel of industry experts and the public vote will be notified; finalists will then need to present a persuasive ten-minute pitch live at Professional Beauty 2014 in London to the BABTAC panel of influential industry experts and peers in a format similar to the popular TV programme Dragons Den.
