The Safety in Beauty campaign, founded by Antonia Maraconda, is celebrating its first anniversary. The campaign, launched to improve the safety of cosmetic procedures, supports those who have had adverse reactions to cosmetic procedures or suffered at the hands of inexperienced or unfit practitioners.

Maraconda's aim is to educate and raise awareness of standards within the industry and the campaign has been hugely successful in achieving this. In the last twelve months, it has reported that no less than 372 enquiries were made to Safety in Beauty last year, 99% of which were from women, all aged 18-55, and 82 of which were related to botched beauty treatments.

Top of the list of problematic treatments were injectable fillers and 72 complaints were related to false advertising claims. Over the next twelve months, the campaign will focus on cosmetic surgery tourism following 25 complaints received regarding the issue.

Until then...geek on!
