Black polish staining Shellac nails?

kust had a play with a stamp set haven't got a stamper yet so made do with a make up sponge
Bad mistake it transferred perfectly to the doings but when I placed it in my nails it was really pale then u went to wipe ur off and it's stained my nails
I've had to buff the top coat off to get rid of the stain etc
What did I do wrong?

What brand polish were you stamping with?
I don't normally topcoat prior to stamping but if your polish does stain it might be an idea to try that first.

It was a cheapy black polish but it was on top of shellac on top of the shellac top coat?
