Box Colours

I've never used a box colour on my hair - even before I was a hairdresser. Is it fair to say that clients using permanent box colours are actually colouring over colour again and again? Surely, they wouldn't be able to do the roots only?

Hope this doesn't sound like another of my stupid questions!

If they are only doing their roots they can't really see what their doing so they will be overlapping it all the time. So they are putting colour over colour all the time x

Must admit I used a few box dyes as a teenager (cringe!!) and it must b near impossible to just do the roots surely! I think id struggle to do my own roots with a tint bowl & brush let alone a mixed up bottle! X
