Just done a brazilian blow dry.I always promote sleek, glossy feeling hair and te end result on this one is it feels "stiff and dry" Her hair was coarse, but instead of feeling soft feels a bit cheap wig like, stiff and dryish. Will this improve on the first wash? Also, the blond (about8.3) has gone a yellow,1 tone look, that has never happened before , when i have done it on coloured hair. Or do you think It does lighten and I just hadnt noticed before. I am colouring in 10 days time, so not so important, but I am a tad disappoinyed in the texture
Should I put a nice conditioning treatment on after using the SLS free shampoo ,next time or am i fretting a bit, cos it will soften up when washed?
Thanks in advance x:rolleyes:

Depending on which Brazilian Keratin product you use the directions may vary, but on thick, coarse, resistant hair the iron must be set on 450F (232C?) and at least 8-10 passes of the iron should be performed to properly seal the cuticle. Taking very thin 1/8-1/4 inch sections is advised too. You should feel the smoothness, see the shine and static when the keratin properly crystallizes. Upon 1st wash and conditioning with a moisturizing product should be helpful. On the blond hair (esp finer highlighted), lowering the temp to 380F (195C?) and perform fewer passes of the iron, maybe 2-3. If you've used Global Keratin, their Acai formula is my favorite for blonds due to the violet color of the product, Keratin Complex also has a special formula for blondes. Sunliss Chocolate Escova goes very brassy on levels 8 and above, even though the formula is white. Try to test strand the hair, in an inconspicuous area to determine the temperature, but try lowering the heat on the lighter hair. I hope this is helpful.

Finally a true expert in Brazilians, you have just clarified my thoughts and training thank you!

Thank you Robertforhair for your comments.

I have great results with the product I use and have never noticed a colour change in blonde. (though she was brassy to start). I have never had the hair feel stiff. Doesn't have the usual sleek, lush feel.
I dont blame my product at all, it always has lovely results.
The hair hasnt actually dried out or weakened, so think the temperature was appropriate for the coarseness and porosity. However, I am guilty of applying too much product. I have been told that, so hope that it will feel better once shampoed for the first time. Trouble is she couldnt get booked in for the colour with me until Friday, so feel a bit anxious until then. Thanks for the tips on products too. It wouldn't hurt to have a more diverse selection

Coloured client today and she loves the colour and the brasilian blowdry feels as it should do, so think once again it was me, I had used too much product.:)

If your using the new KeraStraight KS Complex then the irons should be set to 210 not 232 as the original formula and also you are now supposed to shampoo and condition straight after the treatment, I couldn't say for any other makes as we haven't used them.

HTHS too
