I have a bride's nails to do but the following day she is getting her tan (manual application, not me applying it) and then a few days later is her wedding. I've read the advice about using topcoat, vaseline/solaroil to protect nail enhancements from staining....does this definately definately work? I'm so worried that her nails may get stained... even if she washes off the tan indicator or whatever the following day..could that still stain them too and so would she have to reapply solaroil etc for washing off the next day? I thought that maybe I could recommend to get her tan first...just to be on the safe side since it is all close to her big day...or am I worrying for nothing? Any advice???

Hi there i do St Tropez tan on my clients and myself, also i do acrylics and apply St Tropez when I have extensions on. You should tell your client to ensure that the lady applying the tan doesn't touch her nail area (she shouldn't do anyway) and normally I would wipe the nail plates and go round the backs of the nails, but also the client can wipe round the area and under the nail after the tan has been applied for extra precaution. This should be absolutely fine. Hope this helps!!

I had a spray tan done today, and put a coat of barrier cream (basically just body cream!) over my nails and cuticle area, and they're completely fine!!

Just had a shower and nails weren't stained by the washed off tan either.

Just make sure she uses a cream or I've used vaseline before. And make sure she puts in on quite thick!!

Thanks girls! I am so worried as it is my first bride too! I will copy your post and write up as a little advice card or something. It's St Tropez too but I feel so much better now! Thanks to both of you!
