There's nothing like getting the new year off to a kickstart and Habia appear to be doing just that. It seems as if 2013 is going to be a great year for the organisation and new managing director, Rob Young, a former senior executive at Tiscali and British army officer, is going to be at its helm.

Young will oversee what appears to be a very busy year coming up for Habia. Firstly, the hair and beauty sector will directly benefit from the new updated national occupation standards ensuring that qualifications reflect the latest changes in legislation. They will also set brand new standards for chemical peels and other treatments that have seen recent growth in client demand.

The Habia Skills Academy will push ahead with this Centres of Expertise programme as it creates a network of top training providers in the UK that recognise the highest standards. And, of course Habia will be out on the road with its Big Conversation initiative aimed at brining educators together to discuss the most important issues affecting training providers today. As if that wasn't enough, Habia are working hard to provide salons and their staff with training and recognition to help business growth and professional development across the industry.

Oh, and don't forget the fact that Habia have leveraged key grants over the past year that will benefit the hair and beauty sector after strengthening is relationship with parent company SkillsActive.

I don't know about you, but I've barely recovered enough energy at the end of this year to get through Christmas, let alone make any plans for next year. Watch this space...my new year predictions are that Habia are going to be making big news.

Until then...geek on!

The Ed.
