Hi,
my ex boss has decided she wants to sell her beauty salon. Ive always wanted a salon but never had money to afford one. I know the salon has great potential. (Clientele & perfect location) just things like the overheads are scary. (Dont know why)
Im currently mobile but its getting too much carrying heavy bags back and forth.
Any advice on taking this on.
isit scary becoming a salon owner or am i silly to not take this opportunity.

All depends on the accounts. Why is she selling? It's hard to maintain a profitable salong and of course, finding good staff is almost impossible. Of course, it's also a lot of stress and continuous worry just like any bricks and mortar shop. If you want to go for it, do your due diligence and see if it's worth it :)

She selling because she wants to expand her family and wont be able to juggle the two. Thanks for the advise. i think ill give it a go. The accounts are good but i think it can improve if more treatments are added to the menu.

Is she the only person working the salon or does she have employees?

She owns it, and the staff are all self employed.
The owner doesnt do beauty treatments, just self employed staff and rents the beauty room.

Arrr okay. So all the money is made in room/chair rents. Interesting. Shouldn't be too hard to dissect and work out the best course of action :) sounds promising.

Just make sure that all the staff are proper self employed, taking their own money with their own treatment offerings and pricing :)
