Hi ladies

Just got my shellac kit and tried it on myself yday - i used a print out from geeg (i think sorry if not). On it, it said to cure base for 10 sec but after 10 second cure i touched nail and it was wettish? If I left in for more than 10 seconds would this do damage?

I assume not as others have said that if you put on colour abit thick then you will need to cure for longer but to be honest it wasn't thickly applied....also how come s2 do not provide a manual or some sort of instructions as to how to apply it to give best results??

If you check out the Shellac Lovers group there is a full application article by Geeg.

You have highlighted one reason why if you are not experienced in Gel technology that you should actually do a Shellac Attack training event.

All gels will remain tacky after curing, this includes base layer, colour and top layer.

This is why, on the final layer you should remove the inhibition (tacky) layer to reveal the shine!

Although Shellac is a hybrid, that is one of the bits that is like gel.
The inhibition layer.

Lisa shellac is a hybrid polish in which it means it has some bits of one system and some of another which is uv gel and coloured enamel.

One of the propertys of gel is that for it to polymerize it needs UV light for a predetermined time in which shellac is 10 sec base and 2 min colour and top with shellac or brisa lamp ONLY, if overcuring occours or using a lamp with the wrong UV output can cause premature aging of the product and brittleness, whom said to cure for longer if applied thick?? I have never heared such statments, shellac should only ever be applied thinly and never thick or for more than reccomended cure time.

The wet part you are describing is uncured product which is refered to as the inhibition layer it occours when topmost layer of gel can not be cured due to oxygen.

As prev posters state it is important to know how products work, why dont you go on a shellac attack course to help combat prevent any problems or issues you may have.:!: xx
