Carbide vs ceramic

Point me in the right direction if this has been answered elsewhere (or a good article even)
But what is the difference/pros of all these new ceramic bits available on the market now compared to carbide?

Ceramic bits are more gentle to work with, but take longer time than carbide ones to do the same thing
