Well it's been ages since I've posted anything, but I am in need of some help please.
Please bear with me, this is going to be a long one.

At the new clinic where I work my boss has put me in charge of advertising and marketing and I have been trying to come up with a catchy advert for our local newspaper.

The clinic is based in Golders Green and has been established for over 10 years, they moved to their new location 3 years ago.
It is a dental and aesthetic medicine clinic and the staff consist of a dentist(the boss) 2 dental hygienist who are there on Mondays and Fridays, a gum specialist and another dental specialist who are there Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2 nurses who do botox, dermal fillers, laser hair removal as well as other laser skin treatments, and they are there on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and since November there's me doing Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Now all of them seem to be very busy apart form me. Most clients that come in for the other treatments say they had no idea I was there and didn't know that we now offer beauty treatments as well.

I had placed an ad in the local paper which run for 6 weeks, and this included a feature editorial they did for us. However, the response from this has been close to zero. Now my boss wants me to come up with an advert for the front page of the same local newspaper, as we are hoping this will get a better response.
However, I have trouble coming up with a catchy headline. I know most people only stop to read the ads if it catches their attention.
The few suggestions I had were deemed too controversial, and now I have run out of ideas completely.
My boss told me the ad has to portray us selling them a dream, something along the lines of us making them look 10 years younger. I think we should just concentrate on promoting the beauty treatments I do since the rest of staff are pretty busy and are always fully booked.

So I have to send of the text for the ad by tomorrow, and this will include the special offers I have on laser hair removal, microdermabrasion facials, spray tans and Accent radio frequency body and face treatments. I just need a catchy headline to go with it.
I've come up with this: IT'S NOT CHEATING IF YOU WANT TO LOOK BETTER THAN YOUR FRIENDS
What do you think, does it sound a bit silly. I'm no marketing or advertising guru and have been trying to rack my brain for the past few days.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Dina

"IT'S NOT CHEATING IF YOU WANT TO LOOK BETTER THAN YOUR FRIENDS"

Hiya- not to be too negative...but Im not sure I know what that means. What isn't cheating? What is it you're getting at?

Here's a little tutorial on creating a headline SOHO Marketing -- How To Create A Captivating Headline

Also- if the response from a previous advert and editorial has been close to zero- why are they doing it again? Your boss sounds like an ad-salespersons dream! :)

Hi

Thanks for the reply. That was just a thought, as I said I'm no advertising guru. I just thought it would catch readers attention and then get them to read the rest of the ad.
The previous ad was only small and was featured in their lifestyle section which is towards the back of the paper, the new ad will be 7 by 3 and will be featured on the front page.
Thank you for the link, I'm going to look at it now.

The boss does like to spend money left right and center, however he just wants me to get busy and build up my client list. He is really the best boss ever.

Ok, I've thought of a few more, please tell me what you think.

# WARNING: MAY CAUSE YOU TO LOOK IRRESISTIBLE
# DON'T SETTLE FOR NOTHING ELSE
# VAVAVOOM YOURSELF
# LOOK AND FEEL SEXY AGAIN
# IGNORE THE REST, COME TO THE BEST

Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions welcome.

I think the first one here is good: eye catching but funny. It would get me to look closer. You should chat with your boss and see if this paper is the best place to advertise - whey did the last add not work? Was it because it was too small or because no-one reads the paper.

You might be better doing what some of other geeks have posted that they are doing:

1. Target local businesses to see if they are interested in your services or to see if they would put up flyers for you e.g. wedding shops, golf clubs etc.
2. Get signs / stickers for the back of your car window and the other staff members. Free advertising, especially if you're sitting in traffic.
3. Do staff have logod tshirts?
4. Contact anywhere doing charity fundraising and offer a free treatment. This is good advertising for you and good karma.
5. Do you or any of the others have a log on your cars? It's a good and cheap way to get your name out there.

Check some of the other posts here to see what other ideas are out there.

Is it a Dental clinic?

how about "Something to smile about" or "Offers to smile about", "Give yourself something to smile about"....and variations on that :)

I think you have to be really careful here. I run a busy medical aesthetics clinic. Based on the costs of the treatments and the nature of your clients you need to come across as professional without being too corny or tacky. Ethically, you have to be careful about not portraying unrealistic images or claims (a lot has been written about this type of advertising recently regarding medical txs).

I actually think you have been placed in a very unfair situation, particularly if advertising is not your skill. Very difficult job for you! I now use a marketing company for my literature and am in the process of revamping our website to all tie in - mainly because of the treatments we do and the need to appear uber professional. Have a look at other medical skin clinics/MediSpas on the web and see if you can get any ideas from those. Our tagline is "The beauty of Science".

Thank you all for your replies and sorry it's taken me so long to say thank you.
