Hi Everyone.
I received my OPI GelColor kit on Tuesday last week, I tested it on my mum on Wednesday... I used Im Not Really A Waitress, Some colour came off once I have applied the Top Coat while removing the sticky residue, after coming on here I found out I may have no applied the Top Coat correctly.
Two nails chipped on Sunday which I expected as I already knew I had done something wrong.
Anyway I then did both my nails and toenails with Lincoln Park After Dark on Saturday. All is fine.
I then had a friend of mine ask me on Saturday (before the chips) if I was offering them yet, I said I had not yet done my training but had two manicures and was ok with doing them, she said thats fine and two others wanted them done, I agreed and offered to charge them £15 each as it was my first manicure before training. I done Cajun Shrimp, Strawberry Margerita and Passion on Sunday.
Last night one of the girls messaged me and let me know two of her nails had chipped (Strawberry Margerita) she then messaged me today and told me the Passion clients nails have all chipped and shes had to remove the lot. Ive offered the Strawberry client a free redo of both nails and the Passion a full refund.
I know Ive not yet had my training yet but Im gutted and now feel like I wont pass my training. I felt I knew what I was doing and ive none stop been watching tutorials and researching!
Really upset that 3 of 5 manicures havent remained in good condition :irked:

Would just like to state that I dont think its the system at all. I know others who have done OPI GelColors and are amazed with it (I was before this)
I know there are many factors as to why the colour could have chipped its just finding the correct problem x

I don't know if the gel colour is applied the same way as shellac.
But the main thing is how you prep or PEP the nails.
Also sealing the edges.
Without knowing your routine it's hard to advise but remember that the training your going on will solve these issues so don't be disheartened!

Don't let it bash your confidence just yet. I don't do this treatment yet as I am saving up for the courses but the course is there to help you learn and to help you with any problems thay may arrise.

Just take is as you tried, it's all about practice, practice & more practice. You will get there eventually, and the course will be your foot in the right direction.

You will find that problem on your training I am sure.
As it is booked then just wait until you go before you do anything else with your kit.

Don't be down hearted Chell!!! Before I went on my Shellac attack course, the odd chip was happening to me too! It's not necessarily something you have done wrong, it can be your clients homecare too!! That's why training is so important to give you the confidence & education to know that it's not always your fault!! Let us know how you get on with your training. I am currently saving up to do it too!! :)

Thanks for all your replies girls!!
I just wana get my training done with now so I can see if Im doing anything wrong!
Im such a perfectionist and when I know ive done something wrong it really gets me down!
But once again thanks for your reassurance x

Hi Gemma!
Glad you enjoyed it! Will definitely have a list of questions to ask!
Thanks for your reply x

Hi :) when are you doing your training? Im in next week on the 8th. Honestly don't worry about it! I've had a little play around, have only done my own nails but they are really short and I struggled to cap the free edge properly which I am pretty sure was my problem. Two gels came completely off but the rest are surprisingly doing well. This makes me think it's definitely a good product as I can see quite a few mistakes I've made and loads of them are still going strong!

I think it's best that we practice before training as enter we can write down any problems or questions and they can then be resolved on the day, rather than starting from scratch on the day!

X

I'm sure you'll find the training will help you to iron out the chipping problem you've experienced. As others have said prep and making sure you cap the free edge are majorly important in achieving the perfect result. Enjoy your course!

Hi Everyone,
So yesterday I did my training :)
Well I must say I am very impressed!
I advise everyone to go on training before using this product on clients I wish I held off! I picked up so many tips that I wouldnt have known if I didnt go!
It has reinstalled confidence in me! I also did a french application and learnt a brilliant technique which has really helped me as I dread a french application!
I went to the head office which is in a wonderful location! I actually would love to work there myself!
I would like to thank everyone for been supportive! The main reason why I love Salon Geek x
