Hi geeks
Sorry just having a bit of a moan. My confidence is slowly going back down. I started my mobile hairdressing in January and put my prices really low as to build clientele and iv got a nice group of clients that keep coming back. This particular client is also a friend and first time I did her hair she just had full head highlights which went great. The 2nd time was 2 weeks ago when she decided she wanted to go platinum blonde like she had before years ago. She had naturally ginger hair and already had quiet a bit of bonde thru it that I had done. So I did full head blondor bleach with 3% left it on for required time and when washing I used a purple toner to tone any yellow out. I do her hair late evening so by the time it's done there's no natural light out side so I'm working under house (yellow lights) so when it was dry it looked a little yellow in places. So I recommended she buy that silver shampoo to tone it down. She said she was happy with it paid me and left. I always tell my clients that I do in the evening if in the morning the colour is a little different than they wanted and they arnt happy to tell me and il correct it for them. I'd rather be told than loose clients. But iv not heard from her. Yet today iv been having a look on her fb page and someone wrote something on her page and she had commented saying she had her hair done its awful it's gone yellow. That was said the morning after I'd done her hair. So why didn't she tell me !? :( I feel so useless now and I'm worried she won't come back to me. I wish she would of told me. Iv msged asking how does it look and did she want me to correct it. So I'm now waiting for a response. It really knocks me when I find out people are not happy and not telling me. I'm not a bad person or an unapproachable one just feel so down now like I want to give up trying :(.
Sorry to have a moan just when I tell my fella he doesn't understand. Xxx

Ah dont let this shake your confidence sweets! Some clients just dont want to complain TO you, but are more than happy to complain to others ABOUT you....nature of the business im afraid.
Youve done everything you can do. It is really hard to see colour in peoples houses in the evening, I would maybe take them in to the bathroom where the light tends to be a bit better (though this is not always the case!) Maybe stock a toner like matrix SPA and SPV to take along with you, much better than silver shampoo.
Just wait for a response, and comment that you noticed she said she was unhappy on her fb page, so is there anything you can do for her...?
Hope it all turns out ok hun xxx

dont be disheartened hun, some people just like to have a moan if u hadnt mentioned it she probably wouldnt have noticed! I have learned that you dont need some clients they drag you down its taken me a long time but ive stood up to a few and actully got rid of em!( I had two that were the bane of my life) ur probably doing it cheaper too if ur like me for friends...you dont need people like that concentrate on the others and forget about her you have offered to rectify if she isnt happy and its a nasty thing to stick it on fb..chin up! onwards and upwards!

Thank you so much for your replies. She replied saying that when she woke up it was bright yellow but she sent her bf out to buy the silver shampoo which since she's used it it's toned down loads. Said it isn't white blonde but it's no longer bright yellow. I did say I'd correct it but she said it was fine and her hair is a pain to colour ( I didn't find it when I highlighted it) but oh we'll. I do know everyone's hair is different with colour mine never goes blonde I'm in the process of getting it there so it's dark blonde/gingery at the minute lol, getting it sorted on wed.
I did feel a bit down earlier but I did point out to her when I spoke to her that I did offer to correct it but If she's happy now then that's fine.

Your a good hairdresser, keep reminding yourself sweety and all will be ok xoxo

Aww bless you.

I'm also a mobile hairdresser and I know exactly what you mean, colouring in yellow light is a bit tricky, I've had a similar thing happen to me, I'm all for energy saving light bulbs but not when your trying to colour!! Lol

Try not to look at it as a bad thing but something you have learnt from and turn it in to a positive Hun,

The times I've gone to someone's house and they say oh only one of my spotlights works is that ok?? Hmmmmm

Hi I haven't done any hairdressing for about 40 years and have just decided to do an update course then try to get some clients. Everything is alien to me and reading this site makes me quake. :Scared:I am so gonna get up to date whatever happens. You shouldn't worry, you may be better off without those sort s of customers. Maybe do colours in natural light. Wish I was where you are and not starting from scratch again. Good luck for the furture
