Ok, im definatly going to do nails again.

At the moment I do not have enough money to take the creative course.

Does anyone know where I can get some products and reading material so I can practice whilst saving to do the course.

I want to do Manicure and Pedicure and Extensions, pink and whites.

Help much appreciated.

Hiya

Bit confused on your profile it says u you have only ever used creative products have you already trained with them.

Take care Dawnie

Basically I trained with them back in 2002, I sent the Nail trainer back but it was never recieved by them and I never recieved a certificate. I then moved and just left it and continued my 9-5 job, but now i do want to do nails and i have an oppotunity to work in a shop.

Why did you send the nail trainer back, you are allowed to keep it to practice.x. I would definelty get geegs nailclass book, its on geekmart on here. Its very good and has loads of tutorials. I have also got the complete nail technician by marion newman, also a great book.HTH

Have you tried your local college's they should have some courses running or maybe if you contact CND they might be able to help you with some refresher couses.

Thanks for your replies guys. I would contact re a refresher but its been soo long I think it would be best to start from scratch!!!!

I would recommend "Nail Class" By Gigi sold on here. Its excellent.

This all sounds a little irregular.

With a Creative course, the nail trainer is purchased by the student ... no need to return.

Certificates are always sent out on successful completion of a course .. I can only assume you did not complete the course or trained with someone using CND but not officially CND.

If your course was official, it would have been handled by head office where they are extremely efficient, have systems in place and who will have you on record. 0113 275 0433

If you have no certificate, then you will not be able to purchase any Creative products.

I trained at the Debden College, and when i mean the hand, i mean the nails that you send back.. THey would have me on record because they would always send me marketing information.

twice when i rang the person i needed to speak to was away, and i never had a returned call, but like i said this was back in 2002 and now Im now in a position to train. But I do not have the money right now to go on the course, so i want to find information and ways that i can practice, so that when i take the course again, i will be good at it.

Now this begins to make sense. It was a college course you went on and not a Creative Nail Academy. CND will take no responsibility for a college's lack of organization (if this was the case).

Frankly, I do not think practicing without a certificate and after so much time has passed will help you at all. You certainly would not be able to do it with Creative products. You attend courses to learn, not to already be practiced and most likely with a load of bad habits as well that then need to be corrected.

There is a right way to do things.
Education first, then practice.
You have no certificate.
You should not be practicing ... period.
Sorry we cannot help you.

ok, well then i guess i have to wait, but when i said the college in debden. its the Creative nail college in debden, its one of their training centres.

All the official Creative Training centers are known as the Creative Nail Academy NOT college.

If you think you went to a genuine Creative Nail Academy, then contact the number I gave you above and speak to someone about your problem. But if you never gained your certification then obtaining products is out of the question at this time.

Will call them. It was definatly genuine, because the lady who run it is on the creative nail site.

Thanksxx

At least you have been trained, which is good ... but having credentials is better.

I think posts like yours can sometimes make others (especailly new ones) believe that no training is the way to go and just buy off ebay!! I do not think this is a responsible attitude as your post seems to be saying this is 'another way' to go about things and it really isn't.

True some can 'get on' this way for a time but then you have to go round the houses for everything and end up paying more. I'm glad to see that you are putting the situation to rights and doing your Masters ... this is a good and sensible move but please don't advocate ebay buying of professional products here on the site. Illegal buying of products is not a good thing to be encouraging peeps to do.

Hi and Welcome to the site!

I am from Oz so i really don't know if the info i give u will be applicable but hope it helps anyway..........

Creative is not the only product out there (altho this site has a lot of Creative techs)

Often there are short refresher courses that take into account your prior learning. These can often be a three to four day course for a lot less than the certificate courses.

If money is still too tight to do this then how about buying some products from ,IBD or Ezflow, Lechat and some tips and a practice finger or hand and give that a whirl. Then move on to your friends family neighbours video shop lady anyone that will let you play. Maybe then you can go into a salon and shadow or do a traineeship under a qualified teacher who can become your mentor.

There is nothing wrong with doing some work experience and finding out if you really do want to do nails BEFORE you lay out wads of cash. As always be careful, get your old text books out, get on line and read all you can and use your common sense!
You may find a love for nails you didn't have before and if this is what you want to do GO FOR IT!

Well Done for seeing that great training is the way forward!
Good reading for you in the meantime is right here on this site, there is every area of nails covered to some degree,
Nailclass by Geeg will be fantastic when you start your training, but I feel that getting it too soon would just be frustrating for you.
Look at getting a subscripton to a nails mag (I really recommend 'Scratch')
I want to do Manicure and Pedicure and Extensions, pink and whites.
You'll find everything you need in the Creative Portfolio, you can order one on the number given to you by Geeg.
Help much appreciated.

Good Luck & Go for it! xx

another thing to think about is insurance. I may be wrong but as far as i'm aware your not going to be covered if you have no proof of qualification. Granted they may cover you initially by just telling them your qualified but when it comes down to a claim they are going to want to see your certificates or yuor policy will be invalid

Something to think about when your dealing with the public especially in this day and age.
