Course or apprenticeship?

My friend is planning on starting a hairdressing course in September, she asked for my opinion on which she should do but I didn't think my opinion would really help her decide as I have only ever done courses not apprenticeships so I would be biased (although I've just sent my application for an apprenticeship-wish me luck) what would you advise my friend to do?

Im not a hair geek, so forgive me for answering but i think she should do an apprenticeship because shes gaining experience at the same time as learning in a salon enviroment. I felt lost when i went in to the industry with no experience, i find it really does help. hope that helps

I would say definitely an apprenticeship, but i know that these can be hard to come by, my reasons for saying this are the the the skills you learn in the salon far exceed that of a college based course, things like how to behave around clients and how to interact with them cannot be taught and this way you know if hairdressing really is for you as it's damn hard work being an apprentice and only someone who loves what they do will work 50hour weeks for next to nothing, also when it comes to actually getting a job most salons prefer someone with salon experience rather than someone straight out of college.
