:sad:Hi, i am new to salon geek but have been using Bio Sculpture for the last 6years and i loved it and so do my clients, however lately i have been having a few clients where there nails are lasting anything between 7-10days, when she used to get 3 weeks easily. I have gone through prep, uv bulbs ect and i can only think its the change over to the new pots have spoken to bio sculpture and no help there feel as though i am working for nothing as needing to repair so disheartning as i love doing nails as i get such a great result usually. I would really appreciate any advice you could share with me. I have heard people are now using clear gel as a base and top coat this is something i was never taught or told about?? Also scrub fresh? i currently use sanitizer to cleanse nail before application.
Thanks in advance xxx

I feel your pain my lovely.

If you use the search button you will find lots of stuff that may help you.

Better still though is to join the Bio Sculpture group on this site.

There have been definite changes to BS gels since they changed over to LED and it's been a real trial and error period for us users.

I myself do not use the led lamp. I always use clear as a base and as the finishing layer followed by UV gel for the shine.

BS have lots of different finishing gels and I have tried them all but still come back to the original system - Clear Colour Colour Clear.

Scrubfresh - this one product changed everything for me.

For 9 years I followed everything BS told us to do and used their many prep products and gels.

Only when I found this site and started researching and trialling different methods and products did I find 100% success with BS.

I use all CND prep products (or products associated with CND) Cuticle Away, Scrubfresh, D-Sperse, D-Solve.

BS Colour gels. Clear Gel. UV Gel.

That's it.

Good luck xx

Lots of geeks like to use the Sculpting gel for damaged and weak nails.

You will find lots of geeks have different views about which gels to use as a base or finish.

Some geeks love the LED and others do not get on with it.

Some geeks still in love with BS and some feeling disappointed.

Each geek can only speak for herself and her own experiences.

You can research and try things out for yourself and you will find your own way ... if something works for you then it is not wrong ok!!

I myself use my uv lamp and I have no intentions of changing to the led simply because I have seen that so many people don't get along with it.

I use clear gel as a base usually but if I have a client who has damaged, or ridged nails then I use sculpting gel as it creates a nice smooth base.

if you join the bio group you will see so many of us have had problems and most of the problems have been in the last 6 months so dont worry you are not alone!! and yes lots of us are using clear as top and base (i wasnt taught that either) as we have found that its the best combination that works in general. This is the reason lots of us have brought in other systems and are just keeping the basics in Bio. I havent bought any colours from bio since sept last year as its just not worth it! So many have even completely given up onbio and sold their whole kits!!

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I know Jacquelineanna you were switching to Brisa lite when it was released rather than BS. Are you still using brisa lite or switched back to BS? I've just switched some clients to brisa lite but am a bit anxious with how they will go xx

We have both systems.

Before Brisa Lite was launched I was very excited as I thought the system would operate like BS only better.

That is to say I thought there would be the base and finishing gel and lots of coloured gels.

It is in fact a very different beast and we are still trialling it on certain clients with very problematic nails.

I also need to find the time to get some training so I can understand the product completely.

When I tried the BL as a natural nail overlay on the above mentioned problem nail clients it was a bit disastrous .. and I am happy to accept that it is probably my lack of understanding of the product.

So until I am happy with our trials and have been on the BL training I am still using the BS.

Ah thank you that's great to hear. I was a devoted bio girl but was excited to try brisa lite and have also had teething problems. Definitely need to book myself in for some training as the consistency is entirely different. Thank you :) xx

That's great, thanks for all your replys. I did in fact ask Bio sculpture this morning if the clear was ok to use as a top coat and they said only with LED curing so could you just confirm you use clear under a uv lamp with no problems as a top coat and what type of nail weak or firm or ok for both?? X

Angel- yes some ladies have always used clear as a topcoat long before Bio introduced LED xx

I use bio clear as top coat with a UV lamp!! I use it on 99% of clients but for those needing a little extra i use uv or sgel aswell as the clear

I was the same, hoping that CND were bringing out soak off colour gels in pots similar but BETTER to bio. I understand that it means less products to buy with BL with using it with shellac but its explaining it to clients who see it as different and not a different they want to try! I too have had teething problems but that would be the same for any new product.

I have now realised that I have tried BL smoothing on the wrong clients who didnt need extra help and were already getting 3 weeks from their shellac. I also understand that the smoothing is to be worked in rather than painted on lightly. BL sculpting i love for extending the nail either with tips or sculpting. It is so easy to work with and get a great finish. I currently have BL sculptures on with vinylux over the top and love them.

I rarely do sculptures or tips on whole hands so I am excited to use BL for this in the future.

My main hope for BL was as a natural nail overlay ... what consistency do you use as the base layer and do you use Shellac over the top and does it last as Bio generally would.

My teething problems centre around this.

I use clear as a top coat with a uv lamp and have no problems whatsoever.

I agree with Steph86.

I have used clear as a base and finishing layer for 10 years under the UV lamp.

I use this on all clients, one of my therapists likes to use the Sculpting gel on those with weaker nails.

We both have great results.

I wonder why Bio dosen't recommend using clear as a finishing gel if you don't have the led lamp? It cures as a base layer so why wouldn't it cure as a finishing layer? Strange.

I dont do many sculptures or tips but have started to do more and love doing them with BL.

I only have pink and white in BL at the minute so overlays have to be in pink and then shellac or polish over the top. You HAVE to build an apex into the BL and work with it as gel and not just painted on. I have tried just painting it on as an overlay and it doesnt work!!

so BL base, then pink, you need the smallest amount and just work it round the nail. I personally drop it onto the nail plate just behind your white and then work across each side and down to cuticle area. You shouldnt need to do much refining once you have the hang of it then straight on with shellac colour and shellac top coat or finish with BL top coat after refining and apply polish. To remove you do have to take the bulk down and then wrap and soak but comes off ok or you could just buff the shellac off infill and re apply shellac.

Thank you this reassures me that we are on the right track, this is what we have been doing on our trial ladies. One who couldn't keep Shellac on for even an hour before it chipped is now up to 11 days!!

Her nails seem to break under the product at the corners, so we are making it slightly thicker at the free edge to see if this stops that problem .. any suggestions welcome.
