I'm new to salon geek but love it so far! As I'm mobile I find it great to see new things on here...hence the question does anyone else use NXT colour and what are their thoughts?

Also in my 8 years I have never made a colour mistake.....distraught is not the word and it was purely my fault as having a tired dull moment...

A client (base 6-7 naturally) was having, 3/4 base 8.0, 1/4 base 9.0 and a big spot of blue... This comes a lovely cool colour with none of the orangey tones. Also with this she has bleach highlights...

I made the god awful mistake of pulling the tint through to the ends....over bleach...why do you ask? Because I obviously wasn't thinking!!! Yes I am a hairdresser! :(

To correct this I tried toning with 9.3 but didn't touch the 'blue' ends
I then did 1/2 8.0 1/2 9.3 to try and tone....each of these times with 6% but not left on very long...
Finally I applied a 7.35 with some 6.0 for full application time, which came out ok but with a khaki colour...

Iam re doing this clients hair this friday(she was ok thank goodness!) and planning to do a warm semi with highlift foils?

The desired outcome in the first place was only meant to tone down the block colour of bleach :/ am struggling without composite colours....

Any suggestions welcome but please recognise I had a complete off day and mortified so helpful comments appreciated :)
Thank u :) x

I wouldn't ever touch nxt colours...
I'm a great believer in spending money to make money.
I'm still using L'Oreal even though it costs the earth... You always seem to get what you want with it!

What is you clients aim?
Pictures would be useful....
I'd be inclined to use a gentle cleanse/bleach bath... Just by using powder lightner and warm water, that should get rid of the tone of kharkiness/blue...... That should Give you a blank canvas to work with x x

Hi Sarah- no I went mobile in July therefore going from a Loreal salon, NXT was the closet colour chart that didn't baffle my little brain lol! I have spoken to Loreal but they are not willing to sell to me as I'm not a salon, I know you can get it from trade shops but as I was just starting out It was just get what I can...however I do want to provide quality so I think I'm going to have to change to something but not sure what else?

Back on the subject tho....her colour at the moment is probably a base shade of 7.3 with khaki coming through the ends on the top section....required shade is a light brown/dark blonde with some blondes. She says its faded a lot don't think it will be a problem getting the lightness..

Any colour recommendations? Wella looks like a good colour range?

Thanks x

Hi, just wanted to let you know that the salon I used to work in used NXT and I wouldn't use it again! I personally found the colours wishy washy and never covered very well.

Unfortunately I've been out of hairdressing a while and wouldn't want to recommend anything specific for your client (fear of getting it wrong)
But I just wanted to share my experience of these colours with you!
Hope everything woes out with your client *hig*

*works. Sorry, predictive text!

I'm mobile too, I get my L'Oreal colours from capital.

I would do the cleanse to get rid of the Kharki tone...
Dry off then see what your left with.
Without seeing her hair myself it's hard to say :-/
Do you want to keep her at a level 7?
You could do a full head of foils with different tones, 7.13/ 7.31/ 7.23 are nice colours, choose something else contrasting next to them?!

Im the same as sarah here, im mobile (at the moment) and use only L'Oreal. I get mine from Alan Howard.

I too would do an effassor cleanse with hot water, then see what you left with.

The .0 your using probably isnt helping (in loreal its deep base) so less tone and not ideal for toning.

It's a green toned base in l'Oreal, not deep base, it's why she went khaki.

Thank you so much guys! Being mobile is amazing but sometimes I miss that extra bit of confirmation from stylists! I love this site!!! Yes NXT isn't the best but again bad judgement!
The .0 is all they have its there equivalent to just a 7 or 8 in Loreal for example,

She wants an all over colour with foils through...I completely understand its hard without pics but I didn't take any to remind myself!!! Lol,

This where I need a refreshers course because Iv gotten so used to using Loreal composite Iv gotten lazy...and I worry about putting things with .3 on the hair in case they go too golden....

Thank you so much everyone! Thank god this client saw the bright side of it...she wanted a change and now has no choice lol x

You do pay for what you get I have found nxt a little odd when I trialled it. I use Schwarzkopf or wella. The fudge range is a better budget range if your worried about cost xx

I didnt think i was wrong, sorry but .0 is a deep basic and not a deep base. X

the .0 bases are green based!

I realise they are green based but there is no base in NXT without .0
This is what baffled me when I went from Loreal.
This is why when I look at different colour charts with numbers/letters I always compare to Loreal lol

I didnt say they are not green based, i was saying they are deep basics, which someone said they were not.

In NXT, they are just bases, not deep bases. The OP asked about NXT.

Sorry I haven't replied for ages iv been crazy busy!! However here is the image I managed to take a few days later after the incident...thankfully I took it in daylight!! No khaki to be seen! Thank goodness!! I however have realised I need to concentrate on my colours more and am looking into another course!! Thank you everyone for all your help Nd I shall upload a pic of final result when it will let me!!!
