Hi salon geeks, I'm a micro ring extensionist (certified & insured) I have been fitting my hair extensions since beginning of December & fitted over 60 clients.. I was buying from hairtrade (not Indian remy) hair was costing £90 for full head and I was charging £150.. I've had a girl come back after 3 weeks saying hair is dried up after 3 weeks, she has become quite abusive to me.. I've gave her all the aftercare advice I can give.. Is there something else I should be doing? Should I be giving this girl a refund? I'm a but if a softy and don't like to see people lose out, however I would be at a major loss also.. Any info would be appreciated xx thankyou in advance :) xx

If she's used the proper aftercare and can prove it then you should send a sample to your supplier for them to sort it out for you x

I recommended my products from supplier, I did say I would drop a trial pack in, but she stays 10 miles from me, she felines to buy the proper products, that's why I suggest the trial pack first, I will take the blame for forgetting to drop in, but I'm really busy with my job and slipped my mind, but this is the first contact I've had from her.. I'm gutted as I'm very fair with my clients, however it is far to much money for me to lose also.. She's also complaint of slippage, which I know is complete nonsense, as none of my clients have has slippage, I use silicone lined rings and clamp securley, she also has course thick hair, so much better grip I'd imagine.. As my friend says.. 'it takes a million compliments to build u up, and 1 insult to bring u crashing down' :( I'm opening a shop next month and this is the last thing I need.. Thankyou for messaging back :) xx

I never give a refund, but I go to any lengths to correct any problems..I think the only way to build a successful business is for your clients to trust you implicitly..and have faith that you will fix any problems they may have. I would invite her back to check over the hair, you can occasionally get a bad batch of hair and as already advised by fusion, you would need to send a sample to your supplier..in that instance I would expect replacement hair from the supplier..unfortunately the cost to you will be the time re-fitting it.
If bad aftercare products are the reason for the dryness then I've found a deep conditioning treatment can usually save the hair(I usually use something with Argan oil), I would do this free of charge, and give her the mini aftercare kit..she will then see how important it is to use the correct products. She will go away feeling silly for not using the right stuff in the first place, thankful that you have fixed it, and your reputation is intact.

Increase your prices and give a full aftercare pack with every fitting that way people are not using the wrong aftercare x

this is what i now do. i have never found the hairtrade hair to last much longer than 4 weeks though without looking a bit rubbish even with aftercare though :o

Thankyou so much ladies :) It turns out her friend came to get her extensions done by me and her friend was highly critical of her, saying she dosent loo0k after her own hair let alone hair extensions.. the girl goes to raves constantly etc.. all sorted now.. I have put prices up and included aftercare pack (mini) thankyou xx
