I currently offer prenatal massage and I only use a carrier oil during treatment. I've recently created a little pregnancy pamper package which also includes a mini facial, but I'm a bit confused about what products I can use.

When I worked at a spa, we were told to only use the 'soothing' aromatherapy range during facials. Since working for myself I've continued to do this, however, today I had a client in with oily / spot prone skin, so it didn't seen appropriate. I've just checked on Eve Taylor's website and it doesn't say that purifying products can't be used during pregnancy, but, I remember in collage being told never to use aromatherapy products during pregnancy (unless trained in aromatherapy - which I'm not). Can anyone help?

Thanks

Well certain brands have their own unique ingredients so perhaps the brand you used was aromatherapy and certain oils etc can't be used on pregnant ladies.
So best to ask your rep for the brand you stock. That would be my first stop rather then asking ppl, you can never be too safe I think.

Hi JemmaBeauty,

Just to clarify the policy from Eve Taylor regarding products during pregnancy.
The information you read on our website is accurate. You can use all skin care products during pregnancy, including the Purifying products.
The concentration of essential oils in the skin care products (cleansers/moisturisers etc) is at a lower concentration so will pose no risk.
It's when using pure essential oils that we need to use more caution and hence why there is confusion on using any aromatherapy product during pregnancy.

Our essential oil blends - Massage Oils and Aromatic Serums use higher concentrations of essential oils and so we recommend to just use the Soothing Face Massage Oil or Soothing Aromatic Serum during pregnancy. These are also the best suited to potentially hypersensitive pregnant skin, but to keep in line with industry guidelines in the first trimester we recommend to use plain carrier oil for massage.

Hope that helps and be sure to re-read the piece in the FAQ's on pregnant skin for additional points :)
