Faded out red removal to more natural light brown with caramel highlights

I have a client with very long hair that she has been colouring herself with a red/brown, she now has 4inch regrowth (base 6 ) and fadedout red/orange ends, my question is do i bleach shampoo or just tone out the red to get brown then hilight over ?

She is a base 6, but what level of colour in ends is she, and what base level are you aiming for?? Does she want a flat brown or a rich light brown?

Thanks for your reply, the ends were about a 6-7 too but quite reddy orange, she wanted to be a flatter brown with caramel hilights. In the end went for 7/0 with 0/81 on the ends, then 7/0 with 7/1 on the roots, then put in a few bleach highlights and toned with 8/38, result was lovely
