Hi guys, this is my first post so please be gentle, I have two ladies who I just can't keep nails on, I've tried both gel and acrylic and they are either lifting or there losing nails within a week, one lady has just sent me the below picture and I followed procedure and was really careful to do these, she's only had them on since Tuesday [emoji17]

Hi [emoji4]
If you detail what steps and products you use and also what training you've had it will help.

Ok so I filed nails at free edge, removed cuticle, applied tips, removed dust with cleanser, applied dehydrator, applied primer, then acrylic, filed to shape, buffed over to apply gel top coat, cured then wipe off x

The products I used were salon services powder and monomer, asp primer, asp dehydrator and Gelish top coat x

Who did you train with? Maybe try contacting them and asking for their advice? X

It was with salon services, I've been doing it for the last six years on and off, thank you, will call them x

That's a long time.
Might be an idea to choose a course in one specific application and concentrate on that.
It's difficult to see on my phone but it does look like the nails are completely lifting.

Yeah they have completely lifted [emoji17] will look into it, thank you for replying xx

I'd like to give you advice but if they've completely lifted I think training is the only option.
There are lots of courses available so search and browse on here to find the brands that interest you.

I would say you need to go back and re train. One thing I have noticed in your procedure you don't mention that you etch the nail plate before tip application, I was taught by CND and gel ll skyscraper and on both courses I was taught to remove shine by etching/gently buffing the nail plate first. X

Well I worked in a salon two years ago and never had any problems, I have used a different primer recently so I'm wondering if it's this, yes I always buff to take off shine but wasn't taught to etch unless it's with hard gel x

The pic is I'm seeing is extensions but your procedures are for gel polish.

I used to use an salon services primer but just recently used an asp acid less one x

What did you do to remove the cuticle? X

Removed with a cuticle remover as always, then buffed, I only ever dry prep x

What do you mean?

Apart from the primer the procedures are the same???

If you're leaving any cuticle on the nail plate it will lift. Have a look at this video
Looking at the pic, even if they didn't lift the tips would possible break as the product looks very thin with no apex.
You're best deciding which brand you're going to invest in and use their full system rather than different primers etc.
I still think choosing a good professional brand then a course with them would benefit you. There are conversion courses which are cheaper which show you how to work with their products but you need to know the basics of prep and correct nail structure first X

Lifting could also be caused by your ratio. If your using a slightly wetter bead around the cuticle this would be prone to lifting. Try blotting the excess liquid out of your brush as you work your way up. Also the nails seem a little flat? Build an apex for strength. If you can afford it do another liquid & powder course as a lot has changed in 6 years and knowledge is worth every penny!

Ok will have a think, thank you x
