Got my first mobile clients this week after leaving the salon after my daughter was born. I feel so nervous ....I've been doing it for years but have never worked mobile..did anyone else get nervous?

Yep! I have just restarted after a long break and was terrified!

The night before my first appointment I had some valerian tea then in the morning I had some rescue remedy. It certainly helped to steady my nerves!

I have just finished my third new client and they have all rebooked (and upgraded from manicure to gel polish) or referred me to family.

You will be fine. Just remember to smile, be friendly and relax. You know your stuff!

Kx

Oh thank you. I will get use to it I imagine. I'm pleased I'm not the only one that felt nervous. X

Hiya!

Been mobile 4 months and have a 7 month old baby, completely understand how you feel, what made me feel better was literally making sure I had everything prepared with me - extension lead in case of awkward plug sockets, little bag or bin to keep any rubbish in etc, I bring everything I can think of so I do not come across as flustered and like I know exactly what I am doing and what I need, I like the fact that I set up, do my treatment and go.

It's good to be nervous sometimes, it means that you care and want to do a good job :)

some little ocd things I do so I am always on time is I have a quick look at their address on instant street view on Google, that way I know which one I'm looking for and where I can park before I pop it in my sat nav :) x

Thank you. I have the extension lead sorted I thought of that..ha ha and the little rubbish bag. I think it's because when you work in a salon your boss has to deal with any problems. When your self employed it's all down to you..... I'm sure I will get use to the change.... x

You are definitely not alone! I returned to nails a few months ago after a long break. Once you've got your first couple of clients done you'll feel like you never left!

Congrats on having your daughter.
How are you getting along? Hope it's going well for you.
I'm sure when you find your new routine and way of setting up you'll be flying along, especially as you've got experience already.

Hope you don't mind me asking,
Do you mobile nail techs take your own table?
I mostly practice on friends and family trying to build up confidence atm, but just find using thier table to be so awkard and angled, really slows me down. What do you find works best for you?

Thank you everyone you have been so kind and supportive. Love having a little one. Hard work ha ha but love it. I have a mobile table. I must say they are pretty heavy. I've seen some mobile therapists use small camping tables because they are a bit lighter. X

I have a mobile table, keep it stashed in the car but don't always use it.

Gel polish I don't usually bother but if it's acrylic or gel extensions and using their table would mean being at a funny angle I get it out.

I used to have a salon, but I was working all hours just to cover business costs. So I shut up shop, and left the beauty industry as I did not fancy lugging all that equipment around. After 9 years and missing it like mad, I decided to take the plunge and go mobile. A few refreshers on new nail systems and I was raring to go. Created my website, logo, got my uniforms embroidered, business cards set up, insurance and I had my fist 4 phone calls withing the first two days of advertising. I was so nervous too. I am loving it, and I don't have to work so hard.
