I was interested in doing a course similar but there doesn't seem to be any. The HD courses are all held on Thursdays and Fridays which is not good for most salons.
The more i thought about doing the course, the more i realised that you are just buying into a brand really. Tinting, waxing, threading and plucking are what therapists does every day

Kim Lawless offers a similar course at a fraction of the cost!! Might be worth dropping her a pm. xxx

Ive inquired about doing the HD course when i was speaking to the woman on the phone i said i know how to do all these things anyway what different is it going to teach me and she said well really its just the name you'd be buying into!! haha not for £600 quid it isnt! :lick:

I think it's the name and the results. I trained in Jan and although I could do all the steps, I did learn things. But I don't think I could of charged £30 a time for it without the branding. It's been so popular and I'm glad I done it.

Is it just me that finds the whole threading, tweezing & waxing thing odd? How can you do all of thosesteps on one set of brows? Surely wax, then thread to get a defined shape and miss out the tweezing all together?!

not sure if this helps but, posh brows do an array of washable brow shapes... i also use henna pens which last up to a to a week .. google henna pens im not sure if i can post links on here also i use an airbrush. which have brow stencils in full or flicks... which also give the illusion of depth and lasts up2 18hrs .... cheaper alternative,

I am still laughing at the £600! I thought it would be expensive and unnecessary at around £200 but £600?

Probably right that you would struggle to charge £30 without the name but the justification for charging £30 is surely more to do with the fact that you have paid £600 for the course! Chickens, eggs?

I take my hat off the lady who came up with the idea, what a great businesswoman! Not so much for the eyebrows themselves as I am not keen on that look but for managing to get so many people to part with so much money for the course!

Im in two minds about this course i think the effect of the brows is fantastic but the price for the training is not something i can lay out at the moment.

I was also looking at this course, but am also in 2 minds as I feel I'm quite good already at waxing someones eyebrows, so all the clients I do already don't really need shaping anymore just tidying. Maybe I need to try it out for myself but then again, I don't know anywhere that offers it so makes me think it can't be that popular but not because of the shaping but because of the price. lolxx

I was chatting with a consultant dermatologist on the weekend whose friend Tara has trained in HD brows, so she had them done herself to see what all the fuss was about. Now, I've chosen not to train with them because I live in a little village in Hampshire and not a funky, urban salon.
The dermatologist told me that the only tint with HD Brows is black, but as this is hearsay I'd love to know if this is true.
I had some rare old pm's last time I dared to suggest that HD Brows just might be Emperor's New Clothes, and that the training would actually cost me the thick end of £2K by the time I'd taken lost earnings into account, so I probably won't say anymore!

One big, fat, expensive gimmick.
Aside from threading, (which IMHO is an obsolete form of hair removal), what is done in an HD course is something you should doing/learning in your Lash & Brow module at your beauty school (eg. discussion, analysis, waxing, tinting, tweezing/cutting, shaping, post service care). In other words, they should be skills you already have.

The tint come in various colours, not just black. My blondie clients would not be impressed with black brows! So you can tell the dermatologist he's wrong. xx

i have read in this thread that the salon gives you a kit to take home??? i didnt get one and will now have to mess about trying to cover the brows with make up which i didnt expect i would have to do after paying £30 x

Tint comes in many colours, so more more false rumours. read my old post I was one of the first to do this, always had colour choice.

So what you can wax and shape and tint? Nothing like the way you are taught on the course. Bad tutors (old fashioned dont take from the top) and habits we pick up we dont even realise, is why there is so many ronald McDonald arches, or brows with a big kick on the arch.

Many on the course think they can shape and have change their views after going on, I hope the other girl will testify this.

The treatment has a very good name, and a good brand, simple. The tech did not do your brows correctly, if they are like that, I would like her name and get her hauled back in, I know the terms were made clear on the course, you may sit in on a day again if you do not get it, or the certificate will be revoked.

I am not happy about this incompetence and I know they wont be, the people who carry this out want to keen the standard high. Simple.

That's quite an aggressive attitude you have there, SusanEvian.

I didn't realise the crew at HD allowed their employees to lay it thick and heavy on a forum that is supposed to promote simple discussion.

The resulting PR is almost as priceless as the course cost.

Its was laid down to all of us that took the training, I am personally not a fan of Nouveau products, as everyone knows, we was told about they want the quality and the 7 steps must be carried out on our clients "correctly" every time.

You seem to think that what you are doing and were taught at your college/school is all you need. yes if you want average results.

Everyone knows(except you by your previous response) if you want to step up you take specialist training, by expert people and then yourself you hone your own work to be the very best you can. specialist training in the only way.

If someone tarnishes something I do I would like it stopped.


Through you lack of knowledge you said "One big, fat, expensive gimmick" its something you know nothing about as you have not trained or looked into this correctly, like people quoting only black colours, I have a valid right to protect my service against factually incorrect lies.

The high standard is what we want in our salon, obviously not for you though.

So, can you tell me Sue if the HD Brow results are as "groomed" and striking on a blond, fair girl as a darker lady? All the pics I have seen seem to be dark brows. Im so interested in this course, but cant find pics of us blondies:Unless anyone in essex/East London is offering this service for me to have?
