Hi all,

I'm currently training in gel extensions and I have my assessment at the end of July. Had my training day which went ok, then left to practice before assessment.

I done a full set last Sunday and they all ended up a bit loose by the Friday, two had popped off.

I'm still learning so I'm trying not to get disheartened but I'm looking for tips of why this could've happened?

My thoughts were either:

*tips not blended enough
*stress area not built up enough with the gel
*tips not exposing enough of the natural nail

I've applied plenty glue and used a primer so I doubt that's the issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post a picture of them so we can see.

Here you go, it's the only pic I have. I don't have one of them loose etc as the girl wasn't fussed about coming back / getting them fixed as I was doing them as a student anyway, so only charged products X

I would say that the stress area isn't built up enough as the nails appear quite ski jump/spoon shaped. Are the clients natural nails that shape? That makes for a difficult set of nails to practise on if they are!
The tips could be blended more but I wouldn't say that would necessarily affect how long they lasted.
Can also see where the gel has touched the sidewalls on a couple nails which would cause lifting and therefore they could pop off.
It all takes time and practise so don't get disheartened we've all been there! :)

Thanks for your reply :) I thought it might be the stress area, I'll build it up a bit more next time and be careful around the edges. Thanks again x
